Syracuse

[edit]

I agree with you completely, but just get ready for a barrage of attacks. AdamBiswanger1 18:51, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Countless objective arguments"? At least you should doubt that Google is an "objective" argument to stress importance of an entry: my idea is that we are writing a Bold textcultural encyclopedia, not an Internet service... Maybe you could disagree, but at least try to have a broader point of view on the thing. See you soon!--Attilios 20:57, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What you say is of course reasonable, but I must disagree. now I'll enter in philosophy: you will never convince me that the knowledge of Syracuse, NY, Jeopardy! or Michael Jackson will make people better that a visit to Syracuse, Italy. This is the way in which I see culture: something that can make people better and improve their felicity. Personally, I think that if a proportion should be here, the sole Main sights section of Syracuse, Italy should be longer than the whole Syracuse, New York. But this of course is my opinion. It's also the same opinion of the Britannica editors, and Britannica's is a respectable point of view for me in building an encyclopedia. But it seems that our opinion of what must be this encyclopedia diverge a bit. What helps me is that currently opposers are a minority in the poll... Bye!! --Attilios 21:53, 6 July 2006 (UTC) (P.S.: Syracuse was probably more "important" than Thebes...)[reply]
The former is partly serious, partly a joke. Frankly speaking, if you had a relative asking you an advice for a trip, you'd really advice him Syracuse, NY? I'm totally not convinced by your arguments. I disagree with the "intelligenzia" definition and the idea of the Google "mass" having to be respected. I'm sure you're here 'case: 1) you have fun writing an encyclopedia; 2) you want to do the best work you can. What's the role of the "mass" in all this? I repeat it, the Internet mass uses it mainly for pornography. I like Wikipedia for it has no bias, and also some info on pornography is welcome, but let's remain serious, please. now, to speak frankly, your replies are starting to look sophistic: first we agree to have a poll, and then when the poll is against you you say that "democracy has killed Socrates and elected Hitler". Sorry, but this is the typical argument of the ones who, when they see themselves losing, go against the rules (Silvio Berlusconi is Nr. 1 in this). I wrote a lot of times that Googles is probably not the most correct judge to validate an entry's "importance", but you and other "syracusans" never tried to argument this. I said that Michael Jackson has more Googles entries than Syracuse or even Taj Mahal, and... someone replied that the comparison must be done instead with less important Michael Jacksons: I wrote that to point out the unrelevance of Googles, and my argument was skillfully diverted to favour your opinion. This looks at me as the work a lawyer defending a guilt man (John Grisham is famous also here in Italy, eh eh!). All this, written in the utmost respect for your ideas, of course. But also convinced that they are wrong, eh eh. Again frankly speaking, all this discussion has no importance for me: it's simply interesting to see how "campanilistic" (do you have this word in English?) can be intelligent people in things they are fond of. Ciao! --Attilios 22:28, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah ah! If you are not already a lawyer, you should soon start to study to become one of them. I try to be objective, and declaring that a 300,000/1,000,000 US city is not notable would be not intelligent. But this does not mean that it is equally notable that Syracuse, Italy (at least in my view). Ciao!--Attilios 22:36, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Again you made me laugh. No, I'll never cease from the idea that S,IT must be placed in Syracuse. If one day one Michael Jackson should made the record of home runs in the Idaho league, growing to "notable" status too, this will mean that Michael Jackson the singer should be moved to Michael Jackson (singer) or maybe Michael Jackson (pedophile)? But this will not forbid they both both will be present in Michael Jackson (disambiguation)... I seem we never talk to abolish Syracuse (disambiguation), didn't we? Ciao and greetings to Aunt Millie. --Attilios 23:07, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hurry, before they notice

[edit]

"Siracusa", as it is spelled, is actually the #1 search result for the italian google. You could get torn apart on that one if they see it. AdamBiswanger1 19:53, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

small world indeed

[edit]

There is a lot of Washington DC stuff needed for articles that I have in mind or have already worked on so just keep working away at those Circles and what ever else catches your eye. I have a lot of D.C. content and photographs already on wikipedia, but there is a lot there and it is a long way from Dixon NM. Carptrash 14:39, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure how to get in touch with you

[edit]

Each time I put something up about any of the cooperative businesses in town it gets taken down. I imagine it is because it seems to be an ad, yet P&C and Brugers stay up all over the Syracuse site. The Syracuse Real Food Co-op and the Cooperative Credit union are owned by the community and have been for years. Why do these keep coming down? —Preceding unsigned comment added by KVenneSyr (talkcontribs)

I'll respond to this on this user's talk page. -newkai t-c 17:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Check User talk:KVenneSyr about KvenneSyr's co-op ambitions. I really don't know how we should proceed in regards to businesses in articles. -newkai t-c 23:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Khar nuur

[edit]

Khar Nuur article text relates to Khar Nuur (1132 m above see level)in Их Нууруудын Хотгор (Great Lakes Basin), but space image is made of the other Khar Nuur (1196 m above) in Khangai mountains. Of course sweet water see (5000 year ago) couldn't reach almost 2000 m level (over 800 m more than it's present relicts). And article author confuses Их Нууруудын Хотгор (Great Lakes Basin), where Khar nuur is present, and Нууруудын Хθндий (Lakes Walley), where is no any Khar nuur. Please, check your article. I think, you are not correct in geographic locations. Frequent Mongolian names Khar nuur (Black lake), Tsagaan nuur (White lake) etc. are confusing Bogomolov.PL 12:51, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Hamilton College (Scotland), by Thewinchester, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Hamilton College (Scotland) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Hamilton College (Scotland), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Hamilton College (Scotland) itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 03:30, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tiamat's Wrath moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Tiamat's Wrath, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~~Cheers~~Mgbo120 20:04, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
