Welcome!

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Hello, I'm MusikAnimal. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Miguel Rosales  with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. MusikAnimal talk 15:39, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Miguel Rosales. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Possible conflict of interest on Miguel Rosales

[edit]

From your edit history so far, you may have some connection to the subject of the article Miguel Rosales, and may even have a WP:COI. While constructive edits to the article are most welcome, you must be very careful to avoid sliding into a public relations mentality (see WP:NOPR). If you have any connection with Rosales or his firm, you are required to disclose it, per the Conflict of Interest rules. There is specific advice for editors who may have COI at WP:COIADVICE. Please understand that Wikipedia is not just another place to post public relations material; there are plenty of other legitimate outlets for that. Wikipedia articles are supposed to be based on third-party WP:RS, and written from a WP:NPOV.

As you may be able to tell from my edits to the article, I happen to appreciate and respect Miguel Rosales and his work. Nevertheless, I don't want the Wikipedia article about him to be just a parroting of his own professional website [1]. This is not just my personal preference, it is official Wikipedia policy, and other editors of the article have also acted in support of it. With the recent linking of this fledgling article to several relevant WikiProjects, as well as Rosales' rising reputation, I expect more editors will join us in the future. Please read Talk:Miguel Rosales for specific suggestions on how to improve the article; over time, other interested editors will use the page to discuss problems with and ideas to develop the article.

There is a lot of reading for you to come up to speed with Wikipedia editing, but it is important that you understand it before venturing too much further. As a side note, I can give you some pointers on how to efficiently build properly-formatted reference footnotes using some helpful editing utilities. If this is of interest to you, just leave a note here on your Talk page (I will monitor it in my Watchlist), and I will add some tutorial pointers for you. I hope you're not completely scared off from contributing to Wikipedia, either on the Miguel Rosales article, or elsewhere. If you read the COI guidelines, you will see that it is possible to work on articles, subject to certain limitations. Also, your contributions of uploaded pictures, such as the one of Rosales, are very much appreciated, and help improve the quality of the Wikipedia articles related to him. You seem to have difficulties understanding some of the editing standards on Wikipedia. For starters, stop the WP:OVERLINKING; follow this link and heed the advice! Also, you don't seem to understand how to add correctly-formatted footnotes, and keep inserting inline links instead.
You may find the article Help:Referencing for beginners useful in learning how to build complete and well-formatted references in Wikipedia. The methods shown in "Using refToolbar" are particularly handy for enabling efficient cut-and-paste construction of a proper Wikipedia reference. The refToolbar method is very useful, because it uses a simple form to cue an editor to include the most important parameters (for example, author, date, publisher), while it takes care of the formatting details automatically. You can skip the later section in the tutorial, on manually building references, until/unless you need to "look under the covers" to make custom modifications.
Please respond with any questions or comments you may have, by writing them here on your Talk page. Failing to engage with other editors is more likely to result in misunderstandings, and eventually other editors may revert your misguided efforts without any discussion. Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Miguel Rosales does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Reify-tech (talk) 16:44, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
