August 2018

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Gogo Dodo. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Proth number have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:23, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to François Proth. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:25, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Re your message: Please note that this is the English language Wikipedia, not the Spanish language Wikipedia. It would be helpful if you use English here to communicate.
The links you added were removed because they were not appropriate per the external link guideline, specifically the Non-English-language content section. You were also adding the links to multiple articles that were not appropriate and can be considered spamming. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 02:58, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What are you trying to accomplish?

[edit]

You have switched from posting inappropriate external links across many pages to inappropriately removing content from a single page. What are you trying to accomplish? --JBL (talk) 16:24, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

LLamar tu atención y que me expliques que está mal
Unfortunately, I do not speak Spanish, so I am not entirely sure of the meaning of your message. (If you do not speak English, I would strongly suggest that you consider contributing to the Spanish-language Wikipedia es.wikipedia.org -- it also needs good volunteer editors.) Your edits completely removed sections like the references (footnotes, which readers can use to verify the information in the article) and see also (which links to related articles in Wikipedia) with no explanation. I cannot think of how this could be an improvement.
By the way, it is possible that some of the links you were adding earlier are improvements -- but unless you have the English-language skills necessary to explain why they are useful (for example, some information that they are a reliable source for that is not already in the article), I doubt anyone will be willing to keep them, particularly when your behavior (posting similar links across many pages) looks so much like spamming. --JBL (talk) 00:48, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
