Shelby Bryan's page on Wikipedia mentions the marriage to Anna Wintour !!!
- I've asked for a source there. Our own articles are not reliable sources for other articles. Find one or stop posting this. Daniel Case (talk) 05:01, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for providing your source. However, IMDB entries are not considered reliable sources, since they can be added to by anyone with an IMDB account without anyone at IMdB checking the content out (especially the trivia sections). In the film project, we only consider them reliable as far as "vital stats" about the movie like runtime, release dates and ratings, which are generally information released by he studios themselves and easily verifiable. We've had some issues with IMdB stuff causing some problems with the subjects of articles, enough that we've just stopped using it.
Now I have Googled for sources, and I have come across this page which makes the same assertion. But I'm not sure of the source's reliability.
The crux of the matter is that, for me, the news outlets which cover Wintour a lot and often seem to have some sort of inside line to her — The New York Times, The Guardian — have never reported that she and Shelby are married. The former described him as her "companion" (an increasingly common term for an unmarried partner, long used in the British press and catching on over here), in 2006. Emma Brockes' profile in the latter, which I used as a source (among the many others) when writing the article, refers only to her "relationship" with Bryan ... in 2006. Rush & Molloy referred to Bryan as her "beau" last August. Gawker refers to him a few months ago as her "lover". All these people would certainly know if she was married (openly, anyway) and would say so if she was. Their choice of wording suggests strongly to me that they're not.
