Removed your note from Māori migration canoes

[edit]

Nevers, mon vieux ami, je suis desolé, mais I took your note out of the References section beside Walter and Moeka'a because it doesn't relate to the topic of the article: "Most of these materials had already been published in the Journal of the Polynesian Society in 1919 and 1920, translated by S.P. Smith. This edition is a re-translation of these materials with few inedit manuscripts from the same original narrator. Te Ariki Tara 'Are was a mataiapo and a descent of a famous ta'unga of the Takitumu tribe (Rarotonga)." The only material from History and Traditions of Rarotonga that is quoted from in the article is from the Preface (dated 2000) by Richard Walter and Rangi Moeka'a, not the material published in the JPS in 1920-1. Kahuroa 11:04, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

oui, c'est vrai, c'était moi. The preface talks about Smith's disproved theory about the Great Fleet, and is therefore applicable to the topic of the article. Kahuroa 11:06, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, do what you want, it doesn't really matter anyway. Kia kite. Nevers

Images on Commons

[edit]

I have tagged for renaming some of the images you uploaded to commons - a bot will take care of it in a few days. Just that some of them had numeric names which is against commons convention. I think the bot will also take care of updating the pages where the images are used. By the way I may translate some of your articles from Fr onto En Kāhuroa (talk) 18:58, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help. I didn't know this convention.Nevers (talk) 07:39, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Affair JPK

[edit]

Thanks for the heads up Nevers!

In fact, I have a google news/web alert for JPK and got that one as it came through - you can see the article I wrote about Flosse suing here:

TAHITI: Flosse threatens to sue over 'JPK' doco http://www.pmc.aut.ac.nz/niusbeat/080626_Flosse.shtml

I am not a French speaker but I can get a fair translation from a kind of 3D approach - a rough draft from Google translate, then a follow up search on uncertain terms in the other Google Translate service which seeks similar terms and how they are used in existing media, along with a final check on WordReference.com. Comments from real French speakers about inaccuracies very welcome!

But if you come across any transcripts regarding that doco, then that would be most helpful!

thanks,

Translation

[edit]

ia ora na Lauren,

Very helpful. And encouraging that my 3D approach seems to be working okay for translation. Your dictionary looks very authentic, and comprehensive, always good to have more resources.

It would be a pleasure to respond to your invitation to add more to the Cook Islands politics. So far I have not had the temerity to add anything more than a few minor edits. Is it okay, do you think, to add sentences and paras straight into the Cook Islands politics page, or should I post draft sentences to the talk page first?

Your continued guidance much appreciated. maururu,

jason''

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
