Gabe Lewis
If you don't mind my asking, what's going on with the Gabe Lewis articles? I noticed several articles with this title (or related titles) were moved around a bit, and there were several double-redirects. What is the plan for these articles? (I'm asking because I'll change "The Office" Gabe's links to Gabe Lewis (The Office) if necessary.) Thanks. Kevinbrogers (talk) 02:47, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Moving articles
Hello. It looks like you have been trying to move the article about Gabe Lewis. If you are unable to move an article yourself, please ask any admin for assistance or leave a request at WP:Requested moves. Please do not move articles to placeholder names like Gabe Lewis(The Office) or Gabe Lewis (Facebook), or, especially, copy and paste copyrighted material, as this just creates extra work for other editors. You can get more information about moving at Help:Moving a page. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks. Station1 (talk) 22:59, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message. I suspected that was what you were trying to do. The admin you heard from was right - cut & paste moves are not allowed because they do meet GFDL license requirements. If you are starting a new article but a redirect to some other article already exists, you can just write right over the redirect - no need to create a new title. Once an article is already started, however, and you want to move it but are unable to move it yourself, you can leave a request at WP:RM under "Uncontroversial requests". I see you started to do that but then deleted it. That was actually exactly the right thing to do. After a while an administrator will move it for you (unless there's some good reason not to). I've re-added that request for Gabe Lewis just now, so it should be moved within the next day or so. The other thing you could have done is add a {{db-r3}} template to the top of the redirect - that accomplishes the same thing as an uncontroversial request at WP:RM. Hope this is helpful.
