Your edit to the HPFS article

[edit]

Hi Neo-Vortex (cool username, btw). I've reverted your edit to the High Performance File System article. You changed "an HPFS..." to "a HPFS...". Since HPFS is an acronym that is read as H P F S, the actual proper word to use is "an" and not "a", just as if one were to say "give me an H". Now, if HPFS were read as an actual whole word, your rationale would be correct. But HPFS=H.P.F.S. Best, Robert ROBERTMFROMLI TALK/CNTRB 21:38, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Silent H's are evil, aitch is how its pronounced, thus an. Thanks for that though, made me brush up on English a little more. Neo-Vortex (talk) 22:24, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Any time... I've done it myself countless times, then undone it, then done it again. ;-) So, are/were you an OS/2 enthusiast/user, or is it just general interest that brought you to that article (if you don't mind me asking)? ROBERTMFROMLI TALK/CNTRB 22:48, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just general interest in filesystems, wikipedia is evil sometimes, you go searching for one thing, and end up with a hundred or so tabs open on semi-related topics :) I blame ZFS/Btrfs :)
