Request reason:
@Girth Summit, I already declared my connection with Solavirum and other users in my userpage. We are working on same project on Azerbaijani Wikipedia. If you look at our contributions in the Azerbaijani Wikipedia, you will see that we are not same person.--Nemoralis (talk) 07:41, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Per below. Maybe another checkuser might come by and review the evidence. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:23, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- You are using the same computer, editing in the same subject areas, and sometimes restoring their edits. I cannot tell whether you are the same person or not, but per WP:MEAT, it doesn't matter. I am not going to lift this block. Girth Summit (blether) 08:45, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- No we don't use same computer @Girth Summit. I don't remember intentionally restoring edits made by Solavirum. If I did, it was most likely by random. Contrary to what the WP:MEAT says (
High-profile disputes on Wikipedia often bring new editors to the site
), I have been participating in discussions since 2021, ([1], [2]) the 1,5 year break between my edits is due to my military service. I created two articles with a total size of 200k+ bytes and currently working on third article, so I'm not here solely for some purpose. --Nemoralis (talk) 10:07, 13 October 2023 (UTC)- Well, you're certainly all on the same IP address, using the same sort of device, and editing about the same subjects. I am not going to unblock you, but another checkuser will review the evidence to address your request. Girth Summit (blether) 10:12, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yeap, that's what I see. --Yamla (talk) 10:36, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- I didn't say that we are not on same IP anyway. You may be right about the device, I looked at the devices we use and saw that they are both from the same brand, which is HP. (but we use different browsers) I have responded to your concerns on WP:MEAT and I already know that it is still my responsibility to restore edits even if they are random. So can anyone unblock me now? Nemoralis (talk) 11:54, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- I've raised a thread at WP:AN concerning these blocks, asking for community input. Girth Summit (blether) 12:08, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit sorry for ping. If I write a comment, can you move it to AN on my behalf?--Nemoralis (talk) 12:13, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yes - please do ping me when you do so, I will copy it across (unless someone gets to it before me - I expect that others will look at your talk page to see whether you have any response). Girth Summit (blether) 12:14, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

@Girth Summit thanks in advance, here you go:
Hello everyone. I acknowledge the concerns raised by Girth Summit and others regarding off-wiki coordination. However, I want to assure you that such a thing is out of the question. I've been volunteering for Wikimedia projects since 2017. I hold sysop and interface administrator rights in azwiki, filemover rights in commons, and autopatrolled (or autoreviewer) rights in various wikis. I am also against off-wiki coordination. As an admin in azwiki, I have initiated discussions about such groups numerous times (I can provide links if needed). It's important to note that most of the articles at the top of the list (Editor Interaction Analyser / sigma.toolforge.org) are from 2019, a time when I only knew Solavirum from wikicamps and meetings.
Regarding my edits or restorations of the same articles as Solavirum: The Armenia-Azerbaijan topic isn't very broad, and many of these articles are already on my watchlist. It's highly probable that we will edit the same articles. I noticed Emblem of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic article on my watchlist, which is why I edited it (or more accurately, reverted the title change). I was unaware that Solavirum had done the same thing ~3 years ago. Regarding Zouaves Paris, I noticed this article in the "Terrorism in Azerbaijan" navigation box below while reading Murder of Ziya Bunyadov, an article I intend to create here. I was curious about the connection between [Zouaves] Paris and terrorism in Azerbaijan. Thus, I discovered information about this group's involvement in the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War and decided to include it in the article here.
Lastly, I want to express my disappointment that some users believe Solavirum is using me as a meatpuppet. I've been on Wikip(m)edia for a long time (~7 years) and during this time, it's quite normal for me to form my own opinions (which may coincide with others). In the course of my contributions here, I've created two articles with a total size of over 200k bytes and am currently working on a third article, which I was planning to nominate to DYK for a fact in the article. I want to say again that I'm not here solely for some purpose, as outlined by WP:MEAT. Thanks in advance. Regards,

Administrators' newsletter – November 2023
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (October 2023).
Interface administrator changes
- The WMF is working on making it possible for administrators to edit MediaWiki configuration directly. This is similar to previous work on Special:EditGrowthConfig. A technical RfC is running until November 08, where you can provide feedback.
- There is a proposed plan for re-enabling the Graph Extension. Feedback on this proposal is requested.
- Eligible editors are invited to self-nominate themselves from 12 November 2023 until 21 November 2023 to stand in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections.
- Xaosflux, RoySmith and Cyberpower678 have been appointed to the Electoral Commission for the 2023 Arbitration Committee Elections. BusterD is the reserve commissioner.
- Following a motion, the contentious topic designation of Prem Rawat has been struck. Actions previously taken using this contentious topic designation are still in force.
- Following several motions, multiple topic areas are no longer designated as a contentious topic. These contentious topic designations were from the Editor conduct in e-cigs articles, Liancourt Rocks, Longevity, Medicine, September 11 conspiracy theories, and Shakespeare authorship question cases.
- Following a motion, remedies 3.1 (All related articles under 1RR whenever the dispute over naming is concerned), 6 (Stalemate resolution) and 30 (Administrative supervision) of the Macedonia 2 case have been rescinded.
- Following a motion, remedy 6 (One-revert rule) of the The Troubles case has been amended.
- An arbitration case named Industrial agriculture has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case close 8 November.
- The Articles for Creation backlog drive is happening in November 2023, with 700+ drafts pending reviews for in the last 4 months or so. In addition to the AfC participants, all administrators and New Page Patrollers can conduct reviews using the helper script, Yet Another AFC Helper Script, which can be enabled in the Gadgets settings. Administrators' newsletter – December 2023
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2023).
- Following a talk page discussion, the Administrators' accountability policy has been updated to note that while it is considered best practice for administrators to have notifications (pings) enabled, this is not mandatory. Administrators who do not use notifications are now strongly encouraged to indicate this on their user page.
- Following a motion, the Extended Confirmed Restriction has been amended, removing the allowance for non-extended-confirmed editors to post constructive comments on the "Talk:" namespace. Now, non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace solely to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided that their actions are not disruptive.
- The Arbitration Committee has announced a call for Checkusers and Oversighters, stating that it will currently be accepting applications for CheckUser and/or Oversight permissions at any point in the year.
- Eligible users are invited to vote on candidates for the Arbitration Committee until 23:59 December 11, 2023 (UTC). Candidate statements can be seen here.

Request reason:
Hello again, It has been over a year since my block, and I believe now is a good time to submit a reappeal. During this time, I have reflected on the reasons for the block and the concerns raised by the administrators. While the stated reason for my block is "sockpuppetry," I previously explained that I am not a sockpuppet. The issue arose because I shared the same IP address with another user, Solavirum, with whom I collaborated on the same WikiProject. I now understand that one of the main reasons for my block was how this situation looked suspicious due to the shared IP, especially since Solavirum had already been blocked. During our work on the WikiProject, the Karabakh conflict resurfaced, and I naturally wanted to contribute to article(s) related to my country. In hindsight, I realize that editing those topics was a mistake. Given the shared IP situation, I should have anticipated that my contributions might raise suspicions of "meatpuppetry," especially as Solavirum's block was tied to disputes on similar topics. Unfortunately, this misunderstanding led to my current block. Recognizing my mistakes, I promise not to repeat the same behavior. I would also like to mention that my collaboration with Solavirum on our WikiProject ended in January. However, we have been sharing the same IP address over the past few months (since September) due to circumstances beyond our control. Our names were publicly shared in Azerbaijani media as "traitors" for deleting articles about Azerbaijani soldiers who died during and after the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War: [3][4]. As a result, Solavirum and I have frequently met at our former office to discuss potential legal actions, including consulting with lawyers and communicating with WMF Legal and Human Rights teams. This is why our IP addresses have overlapped during this period. Since my block, I have continued contributing to Wikimedia projects. I am an administrator and interface administrator on the Azerbaijani Wikipedia, where I have made over 15,000 edits since my block on English Wikipedia. Additionally, I’ve contributed over 8,000 edits on Commons and 3,500 edits on Wikidata. I have remained the most active admin on azwiki during this time. At the same time, I have also started contributing in the technical space of Wikimedia. I have become active in Phabricator, I often submit patches to Gerrit. I have over 20k translations on the Translatewiki. Check technical contribs and translatewiki contributions. One of the main reasons I am seeking to be unblocked is that I currently cannot access The Wikipedia Library, which is a valuable resource for my work. I want to finish my article in my draft: User:Nemoralis/sandbox. Thanks in advance. Nemoralis (talk) 02:34, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
Accept reason:
per discussion below. Girth Summit (blether) 18:11, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
No technical evidence of sockpuppetry at this time, though there's not a lot of data in the logs to go off of. Still, it looks clear from that perspective. --Yamla (talk) 11:06, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Yamla, @Girth Summit, hello. Could you review my request please? Nemoralis (talk) 00:07, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Nemoralis. My concerns about your close coordination with Solavirum weren't just related to the technical connection between your accounts - if my notes from the time were accurate, you overlapped with Solavirum on over 120 articles, which is a remarkably high number given your relatively low edit count on this project. I can't believe that is a mere coincidence. There's nothing wrong with working together with other people on articles - I've done so myself, sometimes with editors whom I know in real life; the problem is that when one of you is topic banned from a subject area, it starts to look as if you are coordinating editing in order to get around that ban. I would therefore be happy to unblock your account, if you were to accept a topic ban from the topic area of 'Armenia, Azerbaijan, and related ethnic conflicts, broadly construed'. It's not a subject area that I am particularly familiar with, so without doing some reading I am not sure whether the draft article you want to work on would fall under that ban - if in doubt, leave it. Please indicate whether you would be willing to accept this condition.
- (As an aside, I would observe that the prose in that draft doesn't really fit with our manual of style - it's too emotive. For example:
They transformed the republic into a scene of slaughter and pillage. The reign of terror, which persisted for several months, left behind devastating traces of destruction.
This should be boiled down to 'They invaded and held the country for several months', perhaps with some additional information about specific damage that was caused, or the number of casualties caused. We aim to present factual information in an impassive tone, rather than attempt to persuade the reader that events were terrible. Hope that makes sense.) Girth Summit (blether) 15:59, 1 December 2024 (UTC)- i'm fairly familiar with the AA topic and i'd say that draft doesn't really have anything to do with it. Armenians aren't mentioned anywhere in it, and it relates to Baku (not Nagorno-Karabakh or other Armenian-majority area), which used to have an Armenian minority, but i doubt they'd be specifically involved in this in a way that's relevant to AA2. ... sawyer * he/they * talk 16:15, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- also, i agree with GS's feedback about the tone of the draft - i'm happy to help copyedit if needed, since i'm also interested in this area of history :) ... sawyer * he/they * talk 16:37, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit, thanks for your response! I think I can accept this, but can we narrow the topic a little? You know that the "Armenia" or "Azerbaijan" topic is very broad. Can it be just the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict? I want to write about topics that happened long before the conflict, for example, Azerbaijanis who were subjected to repression, (read Stalinist repressions in Azerbaijan) Armenians who were prominent in Azerbaijan SSR or Azerbaijan Democratic Republic at that time. I have written such articles on the Azerbaijani Wikipedia. (read az:Aleksandr Mantaşev, az:Nersisyan məktəbi, az:Qabriel Sundukyan, az:Ross Baqdasaryan) Some of those articles are currently available mainly on the ruwiki, hywiki (Armenian) and azwiki. (for example: az:Martin Tovmasyan, az:Qafqaz Erməni Xeyriyyə Cəmiyyəti) I would like to create one in English as well, but the topic ban will prevent this. I am mainly interested in the history of Azerbaijan and Armenia (or anything related to the Caucasus in general). I don't think these topics will cause conflict with any user, and even if they do, I will withdraw from that conflict. I understand your concerns about Solavirum, and I will work to make sure you don't think that way again. I'm not interested in the conflict topic anymore anyway. That topic has already become a battleground for ultranationalists. Instead of wasting time there, it makes more sense to create articles about what happened in the past.As for the article in the draft, I was translating that article from Azerbaijani and of course, was going to make corrections, but unfortunately I was blocked and could not continue. After the block, if possible, I will edit the article. There is also an interesting fact in the article for the DYK section. I will submit it there as well. Nemoralis (talk) 16:24, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'll need to read through the Arbcom case that led to the subject area being designated a contentious topic area to understand what is generally considered to be covered by that topic area before I comment on this request - I'll get back to you when I have done that. Girth Summit (blether) 16:34, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think it is WP:AA2, which was opened in 2007. Nemoralis (talk) 18:19, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi again - sincere apologies for the delay, things got busy with work and I haven't had a lot of time for Wikipedia recently. The history of disruption in the Armenia/Azerbaijan is long and complicated. I think that I'm going to stand by my original offer - I will unblock you, but with an indefinite topic ban covering 'Armenia, Azerbaijan, and related ethnic conflicts, broadly construed'. This may be appealed to the community after six months of productive editing in other subject areas at WP:AN. Please indicate whether or not you accept this offer. Girth Summit (blether) 17:54, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit, alright, I accept this. Thanks! Nemoralis (talk) 18:06, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- OK, you're unblocked. The editing restriction is recorded here, and as I say you can appeal from 11th June 2025 at WP:AN. Best wishes. Girth Summit (blether) 18:12, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
