AfD. The Jackal God 00:59, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Hey, I closed this AFD but could you look at Battle of Gergovia? The hoax seems to have crept in there and removing it is complex. --W.marsh 01:16, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Human_Nature_(Doctor_Who_episode): memorial service
[edit]Hi. Thanks for spending time researching the memorial service. However, trying to date the service based on analysing its trappings verges heavily into original research territory, and the material goes somewhat beyond the scope of the article, so I've edited down that section. It's just as well to leave it as an ill-defined future when Timothy Latimer is "old" (at least until there's some definitive reference on what year the writer/production team intended). Mark H Wilkinson 15:16, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Well done with this article! I'd suggest renaming the image with an underline instead of the space to avoid the infobox problems you are having. Rgrds, Ian Cairns 10:31, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- How do you do that? Neddyseagoon - talk 10:37, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
His master's Voice
[edit]My source for Steve Punt was the show I saw recorded (last in the series, I think), so not really admissible Wikipediawise, but...--Red Deathy 10:52, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- That's fine, I was at the first two recordings and I just could remember Tavener but not Punt, that's all - casting no aspersions, just my own amnesia! :-) As soon as there are production details on the BBC website, feel free to put it back up. Neddyseagoon - talk 10:58, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Churches
[edit]I've done a few. Not sure if it is a good idea to file all the churches beginning St. under 'S' or pipe it so they name of the saint is used. MRSC • Talk 21:50, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'ld say use the saint name, else there'll be far too many under S. Neddyseagoon - talk 21:51, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
CfD comments
[edit]Thanks for your helpful comments at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 June 7#Category:Anglican_archbishops_by_diocese_in_the_UK. However, per Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines and Wikipedia:Wikiquette, new comments should be placed after existing comments, rather than chopping them up, so I have edited the CfD to restore the chronological order. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 12:44, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for reuniting my centaurs, signed Giuseppe Alessandro Cardinal Furietti
- Ho, ho, ho! :-) Buongiorno monsignore! Neddyseagoon - talk 08:48, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- The article on the centaurs has little substance but numerous images. It does not look good. I would never understand why people want to insert so many illustrations in stubs. --Ghirla-трёп- 09:46, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Er, because it's an art stub and people should kind of know what it looks like?! :-) We're working on the substance thing. Sure, it doesn't look good now, but once there is substance those images will look far better.Neddyseagoon - talk 09:50, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I'm disappointed in Ghirlandajo's reaction: I thought I'd done a good job, and a portrait plus the doves mosaic does seem modest illustration. I confess Furietti was just a name to me, for the Centaurs and as a rival to Albani, before I began studying him up as a thank-you to Neddyseagoon. Perhaps Andrey has more material coming, though. --Wetman 20:30, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Wetman, you don't have to worry. We were talking about this edit which was promptly reverted by Neddyseagoon. If your article about the cardinal was cluttered with images, I would not have uploaded his portrait and nominated the page on DYK. You did a very good job on that page, as usual. --Ghirla-трёп- 20:49, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, sorry I spoke! :-D lol Neddyseagoon - talk 22:14, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- And if you look carefully, yes, I did revert it, mea culpa, but then I deleted the gallery you were complaining about and put the signature images in in a better, less obtrusive way. Neddyseagoon - talk 09:40, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

The Italians
[edit]Do you think these edits [1] regarding the Grimaldi cardinals are correct - there was no Italy at that time rather like describing Ivan the Terrible as a comrade of the USSR. Giano 17:52, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's by the modern country in which the article's birthplace now is, so that's correct. Neddyseagoon - talk 17:54, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- So, since Schopenhauer was born on the territory of modern-day Poland, he should be categorized as a Polish philosopher? Very nice, I will have to categorize Kant as a Russian philosopher, if that's the way categorization is supposed to work. --Ghirla-трёп- 20:52, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't say it was perfect, or the way all cats should work, just the way that this one necessarily works - we can't just have a tiny subcat for Genoa, it's far more practical to take modern countries. In those examples you give it'ld probably be their adopted nationalities rather than their technical birth one.Neddyseagoon - talk 21:01, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Nice edits on the Counts of Orsay
[edit]I only removed the wikify tag from Alfred Guillaume Gabriel, Count D'Orsay yesterday and already it's looking much better. The articles on the previous counts, too, are interesting to see. Kudos on the edits, I really do appreciate them (because ever since I read The Count of Monte Cristo, that approximate period of French history has held my interest). --Agamemnon2 15:52, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- That's ok. Went to Paris last week, and translating the articles is good fun, getting some more French practise in! One thing - did the title lapse post-Waterloo and re-started after the restoration being held by the dandy? It's just that the dandy's father only died in 1848, yet the dandy is called the comte well before that. Neddyseagoon - talk 20:58, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds like a puzzler. Can't help you there, I'm afraid, since I don't speak French. Your theory sounds feasible, since the elder d'Orsay was a Bonapartist and a general to boot. His status between Waterloo and the restoration would have been rather uncomfortable, titled or not. --Agamemnon2 10:35, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
