Regenten
[edit]I just discovered your Regenten article, because I needed it for a few of my articles and almost had written a "regents" page myself. I abandoned that project, but I think your article needs a major rewrite on the points I have put [citation needed]s next to. May I suggest putting in references also? Good sources are Israel, J.I. (1995), The Dutch Republic: Its Rise, Greatness and Fall, 1477-1806, Oxford University Press,ISBN 0-19-873072-1 hardback, ISBN 0-19-820734-4 paperback, pp. 125-128, 341-345; and Price, J.L. (1998), The Dutch Republic in the Seventeenth Century, pp. 77-80.--Ereunetes (talk) 23:39, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- I just translated it from the Dutch article. Could you help with the references? Neddyseagoon - talk 08:47, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'll be happy to. Give me a few days, though.--Ereunetes (talk) 20:20, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have already edited the article. I compared it with the Dutch original, and though I had less problems with that (because the phrasing is more subtle there), I still have taken out the stuff about economic developments, because that is better dealt with in the article on Economic History to which I put in a wikilink. I have put in the necessary references and a discussion of the political upheavals that caused periodic purges of the regents during the Republic's existence. I also put a reference to the article into the Regent (disambiguation) page, as this was still lacking (making me miss the article in the first place, when I was looking for it originally). Some minor points: I eliminated the "bailiff"-translation for "Schout", as I think it is wrong; anyway there is a wikilink to the Schout-article. Also, though "skilful" is correct British English, other spellings are American, so I put an extra "l" in "skillful" for the sake of consistency:-)--Ereunetes (talk) 00:01, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Olympe Pélissier
[edit]A tag has been placed on Olympe Pélissier requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. PoinDexta1 11:58, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
RE: SD
[edit]I will remove the tag on the condition the article is edited. --PoinDexta1 12:01, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
New Project
[edit]Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 06:50, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Image:Arrotino.pdf listed for deletion
[edit]An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Arrotino.pdf, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. AfD nomination of Bruce Johnson (disambiguation)
[edit]I have nominated Bruce Johnson (disambiguation), an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bruce Johnson (disambiguation). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells•Otter chirps) 04:10, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
I have placed a proposed deletion tag on Harold Gilman, as there is nothing in the article that establishes any notability for Gilman. If you are able to expand the article and establish notability (by explaining what made him noteworthy and providing references), please feel free to remove the proposed deletion template after this has been completed.
- Thank you for expanding this article. It looks much better now. GaryColemanFan (talk) 15:06, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- When creating pages in the future, you may find it helpful to create a user subpage and work on the article there until it has enough information to move into the mainspace. You can find instructions at Wikipedia:User space#How do I create a user subpage?. I find it helpful because it gives me a place to collect the information, leave notes for myself about what I want to expand, and write the article to a point where it satisfies Wikipedia's guidelines for inclusion. I hope this helps. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 15:11, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Guthrum II
[edit]Guthrum II is a mistake. I don't know if he was Johann Martin Lappenberg's mistake, or whether Lappenberg found him in some earlier work, but he is not in any modern work. Since he's not in any modern work, we cannot even have a "Guthrum II is said to have been a king of East Anglia but probably did not exist" article. The nearest I can get to that are statements to the effect that the "treaty of Edward the Elder and Guthrum II" which Lappenberg references is no such thing. If we can't make it "true" while keeping it verifiable, we shouldn't have an article I feel. A misleading article with references is the worst of all possible worlds. Accordingly, I have proposed deletion of Guthrum II. Please feel free to remove the tag if you disagree, Angus McLellan (Talk) 15:26, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Llanfihangel y Creuddyn
[edit]Hi, Thanks for the help with Llanfihangel y Creuddyn! We have a lot of common as you can see by my Userboxes. BTW do you know if there is a Userbox for David Lloyd George? He is a distant relative, and it would be fun to add this to my collection. Cheers! ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 17:36, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Saint Sexwulf
[edit]Hello, me again - I've just left a comment on the talk page for Bishops of Lichfield, about mention there of "Saint Sexwulf". I'm curious about it, the linked page hasn't been created yet, and the article's history shows you as the earliest editor (maybe wrongly?) so I thought I ask if you'd have a look. Cheers. Nortonius (talk) 16:16, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Fergus Craig, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm1581021. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 16:28, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Saint Saviour
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Saint Saviour, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Pastordavid (talk) 18:09, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
