External links to genomics sites

Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. However, the links/content you added may not be a good fit for the encyclopedia. Although external links on content pages may provide useful information, there are a number of issues:

The links being placed in newly created sections containing no other content besides the external links. External links that are not used as references should appear only in a section entitled "External links".
Some external links are welcome, but it is not Wikipedia's purpose to include a comprehensive list of external links related to each topic. No page should be linked from a Wikipedia article unless its inclusion is justified. The links have been embedded in, or added to over 200 articles, this is, in my opinion, excessive.
External Links should be kept to a minimum. A lack of external links, or a small number of external links is not a reason to add external links. Long lists of links are not appropriate: Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, also duplicate links should not appear twice on any page.
The linked content itself is highly technical and probably not relevant to most users of Wikipedia. Please, consider using the content in links to expand the page or create new pages.
Links to search engine and aggregated results pages should be avoided.

Response for : External links to genomics sites

The links I have added are not spam and this is easily understood by just following them. They are highly important links for people who want to know information about genome projects or genome analysis data for particular organisms. The fact that I have added them on several different pages, doesnt mean they are also the same or identical. They are all referring to different groups of organisms. Removing the links does not help at all the individual users and the research community who is interested in finding out genomics-related information about specific organisms. There are more than 5,000 different microbes already known. Several hundred of them already exist in Wikipedia, so each of them must have such links, as long as there is genome information for those organisms available. I hadnt replied earlier as I am new in this and didnt have time to look into how to respond. NebuchadnezzarN 06:03, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
