Thank you for this article. Could I just check with you to what extent, if any, it's translated from the German Wikipedia? All best, Ingratis (talk) 07:52, 6 January 2022 (UTC)ensu
- I didn't translate from the German wikipedia at all, because there were several issues with the text of the article. Some were just stylistic (e.g. references to her 'flaming red hair') - others appeared to be a little too close to copy-vio from original sources. I therefore preferred to look at the original sources as well as some additional ones I found, and wrote it from scratch. Had I translated it from the German wikipedia, I would have included proper attribution per WP:RFT.If I have time, I'll work backwards from the English page and re-do some parts of the German, but right now I'm focusing on English content. - Naushervan (talk) 08:31, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
About Marie-Louise Belarbi - is this a translation of fr:Marie-Louise Belarbi?
[edit]Hi Naushervan,
Is this a translation of fr:Marie-Louise Belarbi? Out of "an abundance of caution" (which may or not merit a Wikipedia article), I have added this.
Please do revert my addition at Talk:Marie-Louise Belarbi if it wasn't a translation.
Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:51, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- It is not a translation, Shirt58. I have put a disclosure stating the same on the talk page. - Naushervan (talk) 11:15, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
Re: Bengal Volunteers
[edit]Hi! Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I do not remember the source material I used to create the article (it was 16 years ago!). There are random mentions and information in different news paper articles if you do a web search. Also, there was Bengali books.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:57, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, unfortunately I don't have the necessarily fluency in Bengali to help out. There is a discussion on the Wikiproject India page about whether the article should be up for deletion as it has no sources, I would encourage you to participate if you want to save it, @Dwaipayan - Naushervan (talk) 11:36, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- Can you give me a link to that discussion please. Cannot find it. Regards, --Dwaipayan (talk) 17:26, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Pakistan Const. Assembly
[edit]Do you know of any similar resource concerning Pakistan Constituent Assembly? A few queries:
- After NWFP went to Pakistan, that Abul Kalam Azad chose to remain in India, Asad Ullah Jan Khan was inducted as a replacement. Sindh met with the same fate and lost Jairamdas Daulatram but none was inducted as a replacement.
- What explains this?
- A stranger case happened with (West) Punjab who ejected Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Abu Bakr Ahmad Haleem, Chaudhri Muhammad Hassan, Syed Amjad Ali, Ghulam Bhik Nairang, and Muzaffar Ali Khan Qizilbash but inducted Shaukat Hayat Khan and Ganga Saran.
- How and why?
- A scholar (of unknown repute) notes the First Const. Assembly to have been composed of sixty nine members This tallies with a list maintained by the Government of Pakistan but (West) Punjab has four blank entries while Sindh has one.
- What do these empty cells mean?
TrangaBellam (talk) 15:36, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, TrangaBellam, give me a few days, I'll get back on the specific queries, but for now, you could check an author called GW Choudhury, who has written several journal articles about the constitution making process. - Naushervan (talk) 04:11, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- The aforementioned "scholar (of unknown repute)", whose monograph I linked to, is Golam Wahed Choudhury. TrangaBellam (talk) 04:59, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- To provide some pointers concerning my second query:
- Fifty seven people attended (p. 5-6 and p. 11) the first session (Aug. 1947) of Pakistan's Const. Assembly. Ganga Saran was already there in the very first day; so, when was he (s)elected? As was Ghazanfar Ali Khan who appears to have been ejected at some later date.
- Five more people were new attendees (p. 1 and p. 13) in the second session (Feb./Mar. 1948). Shaukat Hayat Khan was one of them and no details are provided on how he came to be elected.
- The lack of details is unsurprising since of the three new attendees (p. 1) in the third session (May 1948), Asad Ullah Jan Khan was one and no details were provided on his (s)election.
- Three new members joined (p.1 and p. 17) in the fourth session (Dec. 1948 - Jan. 1949). One new member joined (p.1) in the fifth session (Mar. 1949).
- That leads us to the "sixty nine" members, as of June 1949. Comparing with the sixty nine (sixty four names + blank cells) entries given by the Govt. of Pakistan for the same timeframe:
- Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Avtar Narain Gujral, Bhim Sen Sachar, Sachindra Narayan Sanyal, Abul Hassan Isphani, and Kiran Sankar Roy are not mentioned in the list.
- Two blanks in the Punjab section can possibly be explained by the migration of Gujral and Sachar to India.
- The second session (24 Feb 1948) had authorized a committee to create and/or redistribute seats based on changes arising out of the recent population flux whose report [not available in the webs] was presented in the third session (18 May 1948). The same day (and the one preceding) also featured a polarizing debate on who can continue to be a member of the Constitutent Assembly in light of vacancies created by migration and suspected extraterritorial sympathies of Suhrawardy — Harendra Sur remarked (p. 30) in the discussion that the Punjab massacres had led multiple members to resign and obtain Indian citizenship.

[edit]Hope all's well. I remember you helping edit a few law related articles. Would you be able to help me with some sources re: Sir Srinivas Varadachariar? Trying to build out an article, currently in my sandbox. Thanks much in advance. Ktin (talk) 03:16, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, I may not be able to respond quickly at the moment, but please do tell me what you need. If you're willing to be a little patient (one or two weeks) then I can probably help. - Naushervan (talk) 09:52, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- Sounds good. No hurry at all. Chime in when you come available and have time to spare. One or two weeks is totally fine. Article shaped up reasonably well and I promoted to mainspace. There is a case K.E. vs Beonari Lal Sarma, understanding that judgement better will add some good content to the article in addition to the standard biography stuff. Best wishes. Ktin (talk) 15:50, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Ktin: I read through the article, I can update it in a few days with more details about the judgment. I have the judgment itself but I'm going to check and see subsequent citations of it as well secondary legal literature, before I add more details. If I manage to get sufficient info we could also include a 'Notable judgments' section which does commonly occur on pages for judges. - Naushervan (talk) 04:12, 23 November 2022 (UTC)

Sarveswara Sharma Peri moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Sarveswara Sharma Peri, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 12:33, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
