Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Nath1991! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 11 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

St Andrew's Cathedral

Hi Nath1991! I am just checking my watched pages and noticed that you reverted a vandalism to St Andrew's Cathedral. I want to alert you to a problem. The unnamed editor who did the vandalising made two separate edits. You reverted only part of the problem and left in place some very misleading information. The problem with this is that when the next editor comes along they think, "good, the vandalism has been fixed" and go away again without checking to see if you have done the job right. Luckily, in this case another editor looked at it and picked up the problem.

A partial correction can mask vandalism, which can then stay in the article for months until a knowledgeable editor finds it. If it's a deletion, or a subtle change like a date it can be hard to detect, except by the person who wrote the article. So it's always best to check on the history page and compare the present state with some reliable previous edit. Amandajm (talk) 22:54, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi Nath, please don't restore material removed for copyright reasons without addressing the issue as you did at Big Dee Irwin. That's serously frowned on. Please discuss issues at the article talk page. Thanks. Franamax (talk) 02:14, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Also I notice from the last day of your edits, you've warned the wrong IP editor (which you reverted right away but someone is still going to see a confusing orange bar); a brand new editor created a mainspace page in their first edit then blanked it with the second and you reverted their blanking as vandalism (when IMO it indicates CSD:G7) (and side note, you didn't leave a welcome template on their talk page when you posted there); and as another side note, references to Allah are to the religion of Islam, so it's not "racist" vandalism. It's great that you're helping out with change-patrolling, but please do take a little more care to look into the circumstances of what you're addressing. Thanks for the help though, we need all we can get! Regards. Franamax (talk) 03:51, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

I have nominated The Queensland Derby, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Queensland Derby. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Dancarney (talk) 13:23, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Undoing vandalism

You are doing a nice job undoing vandalism. However, please undo all vandalism and not just one edit. Vandals often create vandalism in several consecutive edits, so you need to check the article's history to ensure that you have caught all the vandalism, such as this vandalism that you missed. Thanks. Gary King (talk) 06:04, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Simon Colosimo

Hi Nath,

My understanding is as follows. He has been released by Sydney FC (his contract would have expired in the next month or two anyway and since Sydney has no more football until next pre-season he was released to make it easier for him to find a club). The FC Seoul deal fell through (due to a registration deadline being missed due to visa issues) and he is trying to find another short term deal to take him through and stay match fit until the World Cup. Nothing official from Melbourne Heart yet, there was a story saying he had signed but nothing official has come out to confirm that. So it seems he is in limbo as it stands, to the best of my knowledge and the reports he is a free agent currently. Camw (talk) 05:51, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

It's a pretty messy situation. I think until something is confirmed that he should be listed as a free agent or unknown - it's better to play it safe and wait for something official than to get it wrong I think. That article on him joining Heart states "Colosimo is believed to have signed", not "has signed" or "has been confirmed to have signed" it's just a (strong) belief. After all, it was believed that he was joining FC Seoul as well... Camw (talk) 06:08, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Adam_Dickinson.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Adam_Dickinson.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:02, 26 April 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. Your recent edits

Please, stop removing valid content from Wikipedia, it is considered vandalism. Straka signed a one-year contract with North Queensland. You can read about this, e.g. here, if you would only be able to read Czech. Regards. - Darwinek (talk) 08:57, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

In the article it is written they interviewed Straka, and he confirmed the rumour that he is going to be the coach of North Queensland. He also said he is flying to Australia next week. One way or the other, he will be officially announced as the new coach, sooner or later. - Darwinek (talk) 09:24, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
OK, mate. No problem. :) I hope he'll have a good time in Australia. He is kind of very popular in the Czech Republic. I am sure, folks will like him in Australia as well. :) - Darwinek (talk) 14:24, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Re: Hi

G'day, thanks for the feedback. I haven't been doing too much on Wikipedia lately, real life stuff has taken priority, although I do pop on every now and then. I've completely forgotten about the WikiProject idea although would naturally support anyone else who wanted to start it. Cheers for the offer to help, likewise if there's anything I can help you with let me know! Gialloneri (talk) 08:47, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Nath,

Using the straight URL for the footballnsw news articles breaks the links (for example the references section here)

If you are interested, I made a template that makes it a bit easier to link to these articles.

The format is {{FootballNSW|ttnewsid|articlename}}. So using {{FootballNSW|3558|NSW Premier League Round 7 Preview}} results in;

NSW Premier League Round 7 Preview - Football NSW Article.

This works for both stories from the main site, as well as ones on the Premier League site and can be used inside reference brackets in the same format. Let me know if you have any suggested changes or problems. Camw (talk) 03:39, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello Nath, thak you for your help. Actually I am new at Wikipedia and still learning the details. Since you have more experience on this website I want to ask you how I can edit a biased "contribution" that has no relationship with a certain article. On "Mavi Marmara" article some people are making edits that have no relation with the article. The purpose of these edits are to support their biased personal opinions. Everything seem correct on theory, there is an information, there is a source, etc. But the edit have no neutral contribution on the article rater than supporting their cases. An example is as below:

http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=MV_Mavi_Marmara&action=historysubmit&diff=369864531&oldid=369454589

How can I edit such "contributions"?

Thanks in advance

Non free rationale

i saw you uploaded many football logos, nice job! i would like to suggest that you use the fair use rationale on the files you upload. all it takes is changing 2 fields in a template. example: File:NQ Razorbacks.jpg. also, you can add it to the appropriate image category. regards --Ben Stone 16:49, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Did you forget to add a license tag for this image when uploading.?

Wikipedia takes copyrights seriously, so images need to have an appropriate license tag

You may wish to read Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#For_image_creators which will assist you :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:21, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

2010–11 in Australian football

Hi Nath,

Sorry for taking a long time to reply, I haven't been on much lately.

I'd say the current title is fine since the main competition goes across the two years and it mirrors what is done by existing articles. I'd probably just stick to the top tier of state leagues as well but it's up to you really. Looks good so far! Camw (talk) 12:18, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Taseki

Hi Nath, just to let you know, I removed the speedy deletion tag from this article. The criteria to meet speedy deletion A7 is much lower than actually showing notability, it just has to make some sort of claim to notability. WP:Prod or WP:AFD would be more appropriate in my opinion. Camw (talk) 12:00, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

I've prodded it. Camw (talk) 00:16, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Babalj

Hi Nath, I see you recreated this article and it was deleted. Do you want me to move the content into your userspace so you can easily move it into mainspace if/when he makes a competitive professional debut? Camw (talk) 00:16, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

I think the consensus is that it has to be a competitive match rather than a friendly in order to pass WP:Athlete but it sounds like he'll be meeting that sooner rather than later. Anyway, I'll put it back at User:Nath1991/Eli Babalj and you can make a call about when to move it back - maybe leave a quick note on the article talk page when you do to explain why it shouldn't be deleted. Camw (talk) 07:22, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Moriyasu

Noticed your revert on Sydney FC. Just thought I'd point to MOS:FLAG#Flags which says "Never use a flag for birth or death place, since doing so may imply an incorrect citizenship or nationality; a great many people have been born or have died abroad.". In absence of national team representation I'm not sure it is clear what should be done as the MOS says "Flags should never indicate the player's nationality in a non-sporting sense; flags should only indicate the sportsperson's national squad/team or representative nationality." The squad list flags are more trouble than they are worth in my opinion but it seems others disagree so we are probably stuck with them. Camw (talk) 06:17, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

I'd lean toward whatever reliable sources are saying about his nationality (think they mostly say he is Japanese if anything). Camw (talk) 06:27, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Nath1991. You have new messages at ClubOranje's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Heart records

I won't play a revert game, but claiming records at this stage is just plain silly. It makes Heart fans look silly. I find soccer sites some of the hardest to keep encyclopaedic because of dumb stuff like this. But, if you want the world to see this silly stuff, go right ahead. HiLo48 (talk) 11:51, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Schwarzer

I would ask Chuq since he's an admin. He'll probably be able to sort it out. Blackjanedavey (talk) 13:37, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Sorry forgot he's not around. You can ask PeeJay2K3 maybe. Blackjanedavey (talk) 13:44, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they won the opener against Heart? Camw (talk) 04:03, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

No problem, didn't seem like a mistake you'd make. Try to keep them off, don't want to see any worse edits get pinned on you if things don't start improving for Sydney! Camw (talk) 04:39, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

freight price fixing

Hey Nath1991. This is a basic question from a novice... Am I allow to suggest new Wikipedia pages? Can I create one myself? My suggestion is a page titled: "Air Freight Price Fixing". Feel free to check this worldwide topic using any search engine. Currently there is only minor Wiki referencing found within only a few of the involved airlines' Wiki pages. Kind regards, Pw70 (talk) 01:18, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

You recently removed a change I made to the Dario Zebroski wiki page. I would like you to delete the Dario Zebroski page because it is not genuine. There is no player at CPFC called Dario Zebroski. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.139.238.34 (talk) 11:30, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Mayora

Looks like he is playing for Lautoka FC - see here. Camw (talk) 07:43, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm. Interesting move if it is true. Should probably stop assuming everything is suspicious. Nath1991 (talk) 08:43, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
With the NSWPL planning on taking a year break you'll probably see some players popping up in odd places. Just took a 5 second google news search to show this one was legit though. Camw (talk) 09:00, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
On the loan/transfer thing, I'm pretty sure that NSWPL players and clubs can only sign contracts one season at a time, so if that is right he would have been technically off-contract. Camw (talk) 09:05, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Oh, OK. Cheers for that. Wasn't sure what contract Mayora was on after he came back from the failed stint in Indonesia. Seems to be all good though. On a side note, just having a flick through some of the OFC team articles, they're very poor. I'll try and get some work done on them if i can get much info on them. Many of them don't have websites in general, making it very difficult to find solid credible information on up to date team sheets etc. Nath1991 (talk) 09:10, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

That would be good. I'd definitely scrap the squad lists if they can't be verified as up to date, especially with those kind of articles that don't get much attention, the squad lists are more likely than not to be incorrect. Camw (talk) 09:17, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Burma Border Clash/DYK

Hey Nath, have you considered putting any of the articles you create through "did you know"? Was having a look over your new Burma Border article and I'm sure an interesting "hook" could be made from it, and it is still within the 5 days since creation limit. Camw (talk) 04:26, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

  • No, i hadn't actually considered that. How would i go about doing that? Cheers for the interest, I thought the topic was serious enough for an article, and i'm interested in these sorts of political conflicts. Nath1991 (talk) 06:35, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Basically check that it meets the rules - mostly that it has been created in the last 5 days or expanded 5x in that time, must be 1500 characters minimum length - then come up with a "hook" under 200 characters that is interesting - have a look at the main page for some current examples. The hook must be neutral and have a citation from a reliable source directly after the line in the article. Once you've come up with a hook, you add it to this page under the appropriate date with the following code - {{subst:NewDYKnom | article= | hook=... that ? | status=new | author=Nath1991 | nominator= }} - any other major contributors to the article can be included with author2=, author3= parameters. Someone will review it at some point and if it's okay, then it will get added to the queue and get a 6 hour run on the main page. Let me know if you have any questions/problems. Camw (talk) 10:39, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
