G'day Natblack10. Noticed your edits to Lanyon High School, and a lot of it doesn't really belong on wikipedia (per WP:NOTDIRECTORY and WP:SOAP). I see that you're keen, though, is there any way I can help you to improve that page? -danjel (talk to me) 03:05, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm trying to help here, but if you keep adding back information that is not acceptable for Wikipedia, then this is going to be problematic. Could you *PLEASE* respond here. -danjel (talk to me) 03:30, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted the list of names and the events. I have re-added the school motto and the link to the Lanyon Cluster. Please explain why these are unacceptable?

Actually, the Lanyon Cluster bit is interesting, and I think that should stay (as it is currently). The bits that I have trouble with are:
  • Lanyon_High_School#School_Vision - This is WP:SOAPy in that it does not describe anything about the school, it falls under (1) Advocacy, propoganda and recruitment, and probably (4) Self-promotion. In any case, the information is not notable.
  • "The Lanyon High School website is currently under construction, you will find more information on Lanyon High Schools twitter and facebook account." - This is DEFINITELY not OK for wikipedia as it is not encylopedic in any way. It smacks of WP:ARTSPAM.
  • The links list contains a lot of links that aren't justifiable. I strongly suggest that you cut them down.
You should note that if you have a WP:Conflict of Interest then you should be very careful about the material that you add because it's quite likely that you'll add information that is not WP:NOTABLE.
Also, you should try to use "Show Preview" more... It seems like you're making a lot of test edits?
Is there any way that I can help you with putting good information in? I would suggest that you look at articles which are good and complete, such as Sydney_Girls_High_School for an example of what sort of information is acceptable. I hope I've been helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in response and I'll help where I'm able. -danjel (talk to me) 03:54, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Using Wikipedia

[edit]

I'll just add to my message above that it appears to be evident that you may not yet have read all the rules and instructions for editing here and creating pages, and therefore you should not be surprised if you work is being reverted or proposed for deletion. You can begin by correctly signing your posts and ensuring that you complete an edit summary each time. Again, don't hesitate to ask for help if you do not understand the policies once you have read them. Happy editing and all the best for 2011. --Kudpung (talk) 03:45, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am currently reading them. (Natblack10 (talk) 03:48, 1 January 2011 (UTC)).[reply]

For Primary Schools...

[edit]

I note that you're having some trouble with primary schools also... I recently created Murray_Farm_Public_School, so maybe I can step you through it.

1) Create a "sandbox" in your own userspace. The way you do this is to go to your own username User:Natblack10, then, at the end of the URL, add a "/" and the name of the article that you're creating. If you were going to do Bonython_Primary_School again, it would be User:Natblack10/Bonython_Primary_School. Then create the page there until you're happy with it.

2) Include the infobox, but I see that you've mastered this. :)

3) Make sure notable features of the school is mentioned. For Murray Farm PS, I noted their Challenge Gifted & Talented Program and their Bilingual English-Japanese curriculum, as both these make the school stand out.

4) Solicit second opinions. I'd be happy to critique anything you provide (see the talk to me next to my name - just drop me a line, and I'll get by).

5) Move the page when you're ready.

Voila. Or Viola. I can't remember which one it is. -danjel (talk to me) 04:01, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that Gordon Primary School is gone, so perhaps this is a good place to start: User:Natblack10/Gordon_Primary_School. Click the link, start it off, and then let's see how we go. -danjel (talk to me) 04:49, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Primary schools and blanking your talk page

[edit]

Please note that while you can basically do what you like with your user space, blanking or removing previous messages from your talk page is not considered good form and will serve to confuse other editors who may be trying to help you. The older help messages are still visible to anyone who wishes by consulting the talk page history.
According to standard procedure, as advised in the messages you blanked an hour or so ago, primary schools have been redirected to their localities. --Kudpung (talk) 05:04, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Gordon Priority Enrolments.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Gordon Priority Enrolments.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
