No copyright problem at Widelands article

[edit]

As I already stated at 10 September 2008 10:17 - take a look at the history - the article is NO COPY of widelands.com. The only copyright problem properly is widelands.com, which does not list the source of it's content. The orginal article about widelands was written more than two years ago from information still available at http://xoops.widelands.org and http://xoops.widelands.org/modules/mediawiki/wiki/About_Widelands . It than was deleted (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Widelands ) and a minimal version copied to The Settlers II article. That minimal version was my base for the recreated Widelands page. All data added afterwards are a translation from German Wikipedia article de:Widelands and from some data from http://xoops.widelands.org/modules/mediawiki/wiki/About_Widelands Please remove the copyright problem tag!

Hello! Thanks for messaging me. I hope you haven't been offended by me placing the {{copyvio}} tag, I see a lot of these type of incidents, and until we make sure that there's no copyright violation, we can't risk keeping the info up there, I hope you understand! Aanyway, I've done some digging, and I think that the fact widelands.com was registered on 17 September 2007, which is after the text was moved to the Settlers II article (confirmed by this revision, backs up your explanation, so I've removed the copyvio tag. Apologies for the inconvenience, I just had to be sure to make sure that Wikipedia didn't get sued! All the best with the article, and if you ever need a hand with anything, just leave me a message. – Toon(talk) 15:18, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, I think I have to say sorry. I properly was a bit harsh :-(. You really did a good job and it is important that the Wikipedia community cares about copyright violations! But I was just very nervous, as this was already the second tag naming the page a copyright violation.
So keep on that good work! And again sorry for my improper accent. Nasenbaer peter (talk) 15:38, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Widelands, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Widelands (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 18:25, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
