Speedy deletion nomination of Christopher Stone (sculptor)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Christopher Stone (sculptor) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Autobiographies on Wikipedia
[edit]Christopher, again, welcome to Wikipedia!
Over on my talk page, you wrote:
Hi Dori,
Thanks for giving my page the once over, As you can probably see I am very new to these pages, All that I have added is true, My artists statement for example is standard, and used by me on the blog sections of various artist community pages to which I contribute. The quotes from other people were made by them for me to use wherever I want, all of the other stuff has been written by me and used on the same blog spots. I cannot see where a copy right infringment would arise, However I want to keep my WIKI page, and I dont want to break any rules,If you have a moment I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks again, Christopher Stone,Nachette (talk) 10:34, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
I figured that I'd put my response here so that it would be easier for you to find—I hope that that's ok.
There are a number of Wikipedia (WP) policies & guidelines that you ran afoul of, so I recommend that you check out these articles before trying again:
- WP guideline on Autobiographies
- WP guideline on Conflict of interest
- Why was my page deleted?
- Your first article
- WP's Manual of Style
Your comments above about how everything you wrote is true and that you've added the same material elsewhere without a problem shows that you need to better understand how WP works before trying again. For that, I recommend reading:
You'll also want to read up on WP's notability requirements/recommendations, which you'll find at:
As this is an autobiography, if, after reading the above, you decide you still want to help create a WP article about yourself, I recommend that you run it through the Articles for creation process. They'll work with you to help shape an article that meets WP criteria.
If you have any other questions, just ask! Dori ❦ (Talk ❖ Contribs ❖ Review) ❦ 21:02, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- After writing this up, I then noticed that you'd gone and already made the same mistakes again instead of waiting for the advice you'd requested. I suspect that it will shortly be deleted. Sorry you couldn't be a tad more patient… Dori ❦ (Talk ❖ Contribs ❖ Review) ❦ 21:11, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Christopher Stone (sculptor)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Christopher Stone (sculptor) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
