Trouted

whatnot

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You have been trouted because: Just because! (Feel free to delete this after seeing it.) --javier032 (talk) 03:38, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

wikify Chema Rodríguez

dear NYKevin. I've created the new article "Chema Rodríguez" and would indeed appreciate if you could wikify it. THANKS A LOT --Dviaje (talk) 17:31, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

I've added some internal links and a footnote. The article still needs more footnotes, however. For more information on this, see Help:Footnotes. If a source is in Spanish and there's no available English equivalent, add {{es icon}} after the citation.
Right now, you should focus on finding and adding external links for each award; don't worry too much about getting the format exactly right (we can always fix that later). If you want more help, try asking at WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers for major things, and WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors for more minor things. Good luck with your article. --NYKevin @790, i.e. 17:57, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

thanks!! i'm going to try and do it now --Dviaje (talk) 18:10, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

done, thanks! --Dviaje (talk) 18:48, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

thanks, NYKevin!--Dviaje (talk) 23:40, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

problem with list of Spanish Film Directors

hi NYKevin, i have a doubt: Chema Rodríguez's entry has Spanish film directors as a category, but he's not linked to this list:

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Category:Spanish_film_directors

how can I solve it? thanks a lot --Dviaje (talk) 20:19, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

sorry, he does appear, in C not in R, but there he is --Dviaje (talk) 20:22, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

I've fixed the sorting: [1]. That's how you make categories sort correctly. You can use * to list them before individual letters. Hope that helps! --NYKevin @894, i.e. 20:27, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

thanks for the help and the info, i keep on learning thanks to you :) --Dviaje (talk) 21:27, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Your request for an editor review

Hi there NYKevin!. I've noticed that you've requested an editor review, located here. While it is not required, users that request a review are strongly encouraged to review other users, as this greatly helps with the backlog of requests there. Think of it as a mutual effort, you review someone and someone will review you. So if it's not too much to ask, please consider reviewing someone (the person before you would be fine - if he's already been reviewed, just look for someone that hasn't). I understand that you may not feel qualified or know how to review someone, so there are instructions in the Instructions for reviewers tab at the top of the page. As always, feel free to message me if you have any questions. Netalarmtalk 06:29, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Netalarm, I do intend to review someone at some point, but I have limited free time. I'll try to get one done over my Thanksgiving break. --NYKevin @689, i.e. 15:32, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
No problem. Have a fun Thanksgiving break! Netalarmtalk 21:47, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Curious

Hi Kevin. I'm curious. I can't see what this edit does - although I've read up on {{clearright}}. Have you time to educate me / us? Thanks, Trafford09 (talk) 11:14, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

The archival boxes on WT:TW were interfering with the "to-do" list. Now they don't. It doesn't show up directly on the edited page because the formatting problem was on the transcluding page. --NYKevin @791, i.e. 17:59, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

Ah - I think I see. Thank you. Trafford09 (talk) 18:45, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

Invitation to public disputation

I would like to invite you to make a public disputation of the substance of my essay "What Wikipedia Is" on its talk page. I'm just glad it's getting some notice, since the ideas it contains are important and need to be publicly and openly discussed. Log Cabin ruling, fifth amendment, etc.

Heya,

Reverted and sourced the first/fifth amendment claims, they were easily sourced via reliable primary and secondary sources, but perhaps I've missed your concern. The 5th amendment issue relates to due process which incorporates ideas that we often think of as equal protection, that's how it's relevant legally (or at least so the ruling claims.) Feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions, no harm intended. Have a great weekend! --je deckertalk 22:17, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

I was under the impression that due process and equal protection were under the 14th amendment (and the 5th amendment is about testifying against oneself, right?). --NYKevin @976, i.e. 22:25, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
The testifying against oneself is certainly part of the fifth amendment but not all of it. Here's the relevant quote from our article on the 5th:
The fifth amendment applies to the federal government (see Barron v. Baltimore), and the Fourteenth Amendment, by its own terms, applies against the States. While the fifth amendment includes a due process clause, it does not include—as the fourteenth amendment does—an equal protection clause. However, in Bolling v. Sharpe 347 U.S. 497 (1954), the Supreme Court averred that it was absurd that the Constitution could deny the states the power to abridge equal protection of the laws, yet permit that power to the Congress. "[T]he concepts of equal protection and due process, both stemming from our American ideal of fairness, are not mutually exclusive," reasoned Chief Justice Earl Warren. The Court thus interpreted the fifth amendment's due process clause to include an equal protection element but has continued to hold that there is a difference between due process and equal protection in its fourteenth amendment jurisprudence.
I ran into this a lot while trying to make sense of some of the same-sex marriage cases, so it's a little more intuitive to me now, but it is confusing the first time you run into it. To translate what's being said above, the idea that the *federal* government has to treat people to some extent equally is usually traced to the fifth amendment, *state* governments the fourteenth. --je deckertalk 22:32, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Geo Swan/working/Summary of Evidence memos/pg112

Could you please revisit Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Geo Swan/working/Summary of Evidence memos/pg112. I believe that your opinion there was based on an incorrect impression you may have gotten from an earlier post by another editor, and is not actually reflecting anything Geo Swan said or indicated. I would appreciate it if you looked at the full discussion and arguments again, and check whether your opinion actaully reflects the facts in this case. Fram (talk) 20:58, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
