thanks for editing the Nelson Mandela bridge out of that article. I saw it somewhere listed as one of the tallest structures in the country but I wasn't sure. If you'd like to help some more, check out the major edits I've done to the "list of tallest buildings in Africa" and the page I made, "list of tallest buildings in Egypt". The Lusitania

Thanks for putting me right about the Lusitania. I was not aware there was more than one ship with the same name. Perhaps the Millers Point article should mention this somehow?
I was also not aware of in which country Millers Point is (not being a local an' all), until I read "Cape Town" in the 2nd para, 2nd sentence. The lead might be altered to something like; "Miller's Point is a headland and stretch of protected coastline of considerable beauty, about 4 km south of Simon’s Town on the road to Cape Point in South Africa.

ISO8601

I would just like to ask you about this edit, and what you mean by it. It seems that you have removed a tag that correctly indicates a preferred date format in accordance with WP:MOSNUM. Deletion of Incredible Connection

NJR, I beg you to reconsider your vote to delete Incredible Connection. I and patsw have come up with some good sources that establish notability. Currently, there are 3 votes to 2 in favour of deletion, so if you change your vote now we could keep this article. It is a notable company, and deserves to be included on Wikipedia. I had a look at it again and unfortunately I still feel that the article does not have a lot of merit. I am South African and occasionally shop at Incredible myself, but I can not see that the article will grow much beyond what is there at the moment. As far as I am concerned it would be far better to redirect Incredible Connection to JD Group Limited and have a section in that article for it. A JD Group article will definitely be a more useful article.

Of course, I realise now that there are more important articles that I could be working on. It is the big articles which I now realise that I have been neglecting. Since you are far more experienced than I am and would know better, I would be happy to work with you as a sort of apprentice and help you where I can. Just tell me where you need me. I think I need some guidance. If Incredible Connection does get deleted I will request a copy of the article and archive it in case IC does one day become a massive multinational corporation. :P

I don't think you need to be apprentice to anyone, you seem to be doing quite a good job improving articles already. The spirit of Wikipedia is probably best described in Wikipedia:Be bold and, for me, one of the most important things to keep in mind when being bold is Wikipedia:Citing sources. There is a huge amount of work to do, but the best is to pick a topic that you are interested in and improving the articles related to it from a stub or start to something more complete. I prefer science, military and slightly odd and unusual topics. I really enjoyed working on the George Labram and Long Cecil articles; it took bits and pieces of information form all over and gave an almost complete story in those two articles; I doubt you will find such a detailed coverage of that gun and its maker anywhere else. Lately I do not have enough time to spend on wikipedia, but I'll probably spend most of what I have on improving Science and technology in South Africa. That article can be so much more than it is now, just adding a mining section and doing the research to fill it will take a while. --NJR_ZA (talk) 14:18, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Timeline of South African history

Hi there,

When I came across this article series, I quickly decided that the see alsos on each article could do with a revamp, so I went ahead and created Template:Year in South Africa and have inserted it throughout the series. As I am left with some inconsistencies, and as I am a bit reluctant to sign up as "active" on Wikipedia:WikiProject South Africa (though I found reading the articles as I updated them rewarding, I did this "project" as a coding-thing more than a contribution of knowledge (of which I have very little on the subject)), I'm allowing myself to solicit your opinion on the matter. (You do look very active on WP:SA.)

Could I direct your attention to User_talk:Davshul#Merge_of_articles? Then I ask if you have any objections to my doing as suggested, specifically I propose to move the articles BCE in Southern Africa & Early CE in Southern Africa in the manner I have piped them in the preceding links. At the very least the ADs article should be moved to an article entitled "Early..." or some such. Though I do like his idea of clarifying this at the top of the article, I suppose that going the whole hog of "Early CE in Southern Africa (to the end of 14th century)" is probably going too far? (Yeah, I'm probably making too much of an issue of this...)

If you could make some comment here on your page (or Davshul's if you should wish to), I'd appreciate it. Even merely "Do as you see fit" would be helpful.

Oh, one more little addition to the above: Those first two articles don't really "fit" within the naming convention of the series, ie Southern vs South, but then also, strictly speaking, South Africa is truly only applicable after 1910 anyway... so I suppose it creates a nice progression. --StephanNaro (talk) 18:06, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

I am also active in Wikipedia:WikiProject South Africa and would be happy to give you my opinion as well. I looked at User_talk:Davshul#Merge_of_articles and agree with Davshul's suggestion. Rather create a redirect for 13th century in South Africa and 14th century in South Africa to ADs in Southern Africa for the interim. In the long term we can remove the redirect(s) and make the separate article as Davshul has said. As for consistency concerning the year numbering notation, I would suggest using BCE/CE, as opposed to the AD notation as it seems customary. I looked at your work Template:Year in South Africa, and am impressed by what you have done. Btw, you don't have to be active in Wikipedia:WikiProject South Africa to participate. Even acting in a de facto capacity would be welcomed because the project is so hopelessly undermanned, save for a few diehards like NJ, and Htonl. Stephan, I just got back from a weekend away and have not yet had the time to look at exactly what it is you are doing. From a quick glance I do not however see a problem. Hi! Regarding this fix -- does the report page omit or list incorrect pages for the report? It looks like Category:WikiProject South Africa articles contains all the pages directly? SKA photo problem

You are welcome to use any of the photos I took in 2009 when I visited the site as part of a group of amateur radio operators - My SKA site photos on Flikr We were the last people legally allowed to transmit radio signals from the site. The restrictions came into force shortly after our visit. Unfortunately the KAT7 array was still under construction when I took the photos- they are also only low quality cellphone camera images. Sure, will do. That one does have a TOTAL logo on the building. Nu Metro head-office accross the road can be done at the same time. Nick, dankie vir jou terugvoer gister oor referencing styles. Dit lyk of jy 'n perd is wat weet hoe werk Wikipedia. Ek is nuut hier en weet min van hoe dinge werk. So hier is my probleem: Ek is so twee derdes klaar met 'n artikel oor Sophiatown. Ek sien die artikel word gerate as 'n stub en tweedends as onbelangrik. Hoe word hierdie goed verander. Omdat ek grootliks bygedra het tot die artikel voel dit nie vir my dat ek die persoon is wat dit moet verander nie. Die artikel het ook nog redelik werk nodig.
