Conflict of interest concern

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I have reviewed your article and it passes review, this means that the article can be looked up from search engine. However, I have concerns on your username, as your username implies that you worked under Republicans from New Hampshire or you received compensations from them. Are you working for them or received any compensation from them? In Wikipedia, editing under WP:COI have some rules that you have to adhere. If you have any questions, please do ask, I will try the best I can to answer. Have a good night! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 02:17, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

no compensation. i volunteer with republicans, but have no formal position. just adding a few newly elected politicians. NH-Republicans (talk) 17:49, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! In that case you need to declare that you have conflict of interest with some of the elected politicians. It doesn't matter if you are paid or not, but you need to declare your conflict of interest if you have one. You can read more about it in WP:COI. If you wanted, I can help to declare your COI for you. Have a good day and happy late Thanksgiving! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 18:10, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I do NOT have a position with any political organization nor politician so I dont understand how it's a conflict of interest? what would I be declaring? Sorry, I'm new and confused. thanks for your help. Happy Thanksgiving to you too. NH-Republicans (talk) 18:28, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that you have no position with the organization, but being a volunteer is still constituted as a conflict of interest. If you have conflict of interest, all you need to do is to declare that you have a conflict of interest. You may need to change your username as well, as your username showed that you may be affiliated with Republicans in New Hampshire. To rename your username, all you need to do is to go to Special:GlobalRenameRequest. To declare your COI, the instructions are in WP:DCOI. If you wanted, I can assist you in declaring your COI. Have a good night! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 01:44, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So to be clear i don’t volunteer with a specific organization. I just volunteer to help republican candidates when i can such as sign waving. No one i wrote about though. I mean do people who are republicans really have to declare that? I’m confused. I can change my name, but that seems silly as there isn’t an organization with that name. i chose it because NHredwave didn’t work. Sure if you can assist me in filling it out because i don’t even know what to write in it. NH-Republicans (talk) 02:49, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am a Democratic state representative (who started editing Wikipedia articles before being elected.) I consider this user name to be a conflict of interest. In my opinion, it doesn't matter if the person behind it is receiving no compensation and/or holds no quote-unquote "position." (I might add, by the way, that we have no absolutely NO way of verifying if those facts are true or not.). I am reminded, for some reason, of the many individuals who hang around the State House all day and always expound the positions of one particular organization, but who claim to not be lobbyists because they are just "volunteers" who are not specifically paid to do lobbying. Timothy Horrigan (talk) 04:27, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
He has clearly stated that the username change is pending. By the way, are you related to Timothy Horrigan? ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 03:11, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Requested name change is now pending. NH-Republicans (talk) 02:56, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. If you have any questions please do ask. I guess if you are just part of the Republican party you don't need to declare a conflict of interest to a specific candidate. I do hope you will write more about the Republicans though! Have a good night. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 03:04, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the info. Just added one more. How do you direct to a certain page if it’s ambiguous? Like how do I specify which Rockingham County? I found the double bracket, but it doesn’t let you pick which. Appreciate your help. Would love to learn how to do this better so I can add articles in my spare time. Thank you again! NH-Republicans (talk) 03:35, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do you edit on mobile or on computer? The Rockingham County in New Hampshire is Rockingham County, New Hampshire. The other Rockingham County is on North Carolina. Use double bracket and the pipe/vertical line sign to create a link which appears as a term other than the name of the target page. For more guidance on that you can read it in H:WIKILINK. So to create Rockingham County in NH you need to do this: Rockingham County. If you have any questions, please do ask! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 04:02, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
