Initial Feedback Request

[edit]

Recent experience with Talk:2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine made it clear some editors overlook/ignore the {{FAQ}} resource at the top. Rather than write the same response over and over, this template is designed to reference existing FAQ answers succinctly. Once moved to the Template namespace, {{SeeFAQ|4}} for example can reference question 4, linking directly to it on longer FAQ pages. With a little extra markup on the actual /FAQ page, the question and answer can be transcluded by this template as well. To illustrate, here's an example of what happens when {{SeeFAQ|1}} is used on this page: Please refer to Q1 of the FAQ.

My hope in introducing this template, is two-fold

  1. Help more talk page editors become aware of the existence of the FAQ resource and start to check it before posting redundant questions.
  2. Make it easier for editors that find themselves frequently responding to posts by referencing the FAQ.

You can read complete details at the current user space page for the template: User:N8wilson/SeeFAQ. Comments, questions, suggestions and feedback welcome. --N8 18:45, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
