Cool Old Films and Actors
[edit]wow thanks for your help mate. had you heard of him. I have discovered that films and early actors and directors are pathetically covered on wikipedia. ideally I want all my entries to be like William Garwood that I started but I am currently going through there are millions of them not covered!!!! Feel free to help me out. Great work. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:39, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah I know, there is such a lack of appreciation. I will definately help you on your mission as much as I can. Thanks. N4nojohn 21:23, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi mate. I have cleaned up the Ethyle Cooke article a bit but I have some useful pointers: 1. Always list the birth and death dates after the name in brackets see the article now. 2. Try to avoid repetition - the background and early career had the same info in twice. 3.For film articles always at a link to imdbpro using the template- you can cut and paste it from the bottom of every page. 4.Even more importantly always categorize. This links the articles to other actors births and deaths and silent actors. and add stub categories see the bottom of Ethyle Cooke. 5. Try to avoid direct copywright 6.Another piece of advice, for instance you wanted to start a new article on for instance Joseph Knight (actor). If I was you I would copy an existing page e.g Ethyle Cooke and paste the text on the new article and make the slight adjustments -far quicker and less time consuming. THis way each article will follow the same format. Good luck oh and cheers for adding the filmography to Harry Benham. Good luck and I hope I have been a help. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:22, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
You can create Grace Benham if you like I think she's related to Harry Benham. Also feel free to expand one of the coolest ones Albert MacQuarrie Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:03, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi again. I would love it if you could create Jack Richardson (actor) from [[1]]. You can cut and paste e.g the Harry von Meter page onto this and change minor details and add filmography. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:34, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello N4nojohn! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 178 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

New Page Patrol survey
[edit]
New page patrol – Survey Invitation Hello N4nojohn! The WMF is currently developing new tools to make new page patrolling much easier. Whether you have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.
Please click HERE to take part. You are receiving this invitation because you have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey |
Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest
[edit]I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:48, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Notification of automated file description generation
[edit]Your upload of File:Bond length of fluorine graph.JPG or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.
This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers
[edit]Hi N4nojohn,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Beatrice Van moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Beatrice Van, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
