I retired from a Chair in Mediaeval French at Edinburgh University in 1996. I am a specialist in Mediaeval French drama, in which field I have published a total of 100 articles and books over the last 35 years. I was formerly President of the International Society for the study of Mediaeval Theatre. I am no longer an active researcher, owing to ill-health. I needed to use of voice recognition program, in order to use the computer.
