Help with Verizon FiOS page

[edit]

Hello Myriad Pro, Thanks for your help recently with Verizon articles. Earlier this month, I posted a request on the Verizon FiOS Talk page due to an inaccuracy in the lead sentence. Since then, editors have taken out of that sentence that FiOS operates on a fiber optic network. Would you be willing to take a look at my suggestions? Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 21:01, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Myriad Pro, It looks like you've been off Wikipedia lately, so I wanted to let you know I also reached out to those on the WikiProject Telecommunications Talk page to see if there was any interest there to help fix the errors in the introduction to the Verizon FiOS article. Of course, if you find yourself back here, I would love for you take a look at my proposed changes as well. Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 17:43, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Did you archive?

[edit]

Hi there, I'm assuming you have a lack of knowledge about this, but you shouldn't be removing on-topic discussions, even if they have been resolved, etc. Vandalism can be removed, but all legitimate talk page content should be archived instead of removed. I know that you're enthusiastic about this subject (maybe you know her) but a slower approach is the way to go here. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:20, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

sorry, I didn't know, I thought once it's done, it's done. My bad. Yes, she's a really close friend of mine. I don't know how to archive, so if you'd do that, I'd be grateful. Myriad Pro (talk) 02:32, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There's no reason at this point to archive the page. There have only been two discussions in the last two years. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:28, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
and in all seriousness, am I allowed to delete old/closed topics that are on my talk page? Myriad Pro (talk) 18:14, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your restoration of an unsourced birthdate is not constructive because it contravenes WP:BLPPRIVACY. I don't know how I could have made that more clear than "Must be sourced and widely published, per WP:BLPPRIVACY. This is serious and can result in account blocking." In case it's still unclear, please do not submit a birthdate without a reference from a reliable published source, as I will be inclined to block your account otherwise. I would like to avoid that, please. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:27, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

is this widely published enough? http://www.famousbirthdays.com/people/laura-schlitz.html ? I can get some more links if needed. Myriad Pro (talk) 02:37, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Reliable sources must (among other factors) have a clear editorial policy and a reputation for fact-checking. There's no indication that this site is anything more than a page-scraper. For all we know, they scraped data from Wikipedia, parsed it, added the subject's astrological sign, blah blah. More reputable sites should be selected. And I think widely published suggests the content should be printed in a number of places. Note also that public records sites are not considered publications. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:40, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, fair enough. Myriad Pro (talk) 18:14, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Verizon Wireless and FiOS pages

[edit]

Hello, Myriad Pro. You previously expressed interest in the Apps section of the Verizon Wireless page. Last week I posted a proposed update on the Verizon Wireless Talk page. Would you have time to review my suggestions and add them to the live article if they look OK? Additionally, an editor added an "Advertisement" tag to the Verizon FiOS article, specifically mentioning the pricing table. I happen to agree that the pricing table does not belong, but it seems that this editor has more serious concerns and isn't interested in making only this update. Would you be willing to take a look at that article to see about removing the pricing table? Do you think there are other issues that need resolving before the advertising tag could be removed? Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 21:37, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion on Verizon Wireless "Apps"

[edit]

Hello Myriad Pro, I wanted to bring to your attention a discussion happening on the Verizon Wireless Talk page. To bring you up to speed: an editor recently added an {{advert}} tag to the article's Apps section. While I don't think Apps reads like an advertisement, I want to work to build consensus. Would you like to weigh in since you reviewed this and added it to the article? Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 19:09, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

VZBob, I responded. It doesn't at all feel like an ad. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Myriad Pro (talk) 14:44, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Myriad Pro, thanks for responding to the Apps section discussion and for removing the tag. I wanted to give you a heads up that I also added a new request on the Verizon Wireless Talk page to update the Network section and consider changing the existing Wireless Home Phone to a new Products and services section. Do you mind taking a look? Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 13:02, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi VZBob. I'll look at them today, and implant them assuming they're good (I see no reason why they wouldn't at first glance). Thanks as always! Hopefully FiOS and Verizon HSI can get some love! :) Myriad Pro (talk) 13:26, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
VZBob, they're live! Myriad Pro (talk) 23:24, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

April 2016

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Dcirovic. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —the one you made with this edit to C&P Telephone— because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Dcirovic (talk) 22:06, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Verizon FiOS Edits

[edit]

Re: Your comment: "First off, most of that was incorrect-- ALL customers received SpeedMatch, and it also was way to long & not needed." The source I quoted was Verizon's own website, so I'm not sure why you felt it was incorrect, and deleted everything without reaching out to discuss it with me first. All of the speed tiers that have since been discontinued have been grandfathered. Existing customers are not forced to sign up for the new tiers. As an example, I currently have the 75/75Mbps tier, which is no longer offered. --Dnywlsh (talk) 16:40, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! 75/75 is a rare exception. Tiers like 50/25 were not grandfathered-- they were upgraded for free to 50/50. Myriad Pro (talk) 16:45, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
All of the older discontinued tiers were grandfathered as well. (10/2, 15/5, 20/5, 30/5, 20/20, 25/25, 35/35, etc.) If you look at the pages for other ISPs (eg. Comcast Cable) they usually include grandfathered tiers, since it benefits current customers with those tiers as well as provides information about past tiers that were offered for research/information purposes. --Dnywlsh (talk) 17:18, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
10/2, 15/5, etc were all speed matched. And most of them (not all) were upgraded to 25/25. Myriad Pro (talk) 17:23, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a source for that? I have family members in the New York area still on the 20/20 tier. --Dnywlsh (talk) 17:44, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
if they call in the upgrade should be no charge. Myriad Pro (talk) 18:03, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
How is that relevant here, and why does that support you removing all of the past tiers from the table? --Dnywlsh (talk) 19:13, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
it was relevant because you asked for a source, which was my personal experience. ok, we don't need to remove them all, but the non-speed matched tiers shouldn't be listed. Myriad Pro (talk) 19:17, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
"Personal experience" isn't a valid source for removing information from Wikipedia. (Wikipedia:No original research) "Do not add unsourced material from your personal experience." --Dnywlsh (talk) 14:13, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
True-- how about this: all old speed matched tiers can be listed as grandfathered. Is that good? Myriad Pro (talk) 14:24, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
