Repost of Luke Heron
[edit]A tag has been placed on Luke Heron requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Thank you. |► ϋrбanяeneωaℓ • TALK ◄| 15:23, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
I have no issue with the deletion of the previous Luke Heron post as I think my piece is more informative, though clearly still in its infancy. I am looking to build up a number of people profiles on venture capital players. Surely the qualifiaction for inclusion must be their specific involvement - my focus is mainly on young entrepreneurs, innovators and those that challenge traditional venture capital rules. AfD Nomination: Luke Heron
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that Luke Heron meets these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.
Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Luke Heron. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.
Discussions such as these usually last seven days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. |► ϋrбanяeneωaℓ • TALK ◄| 23:30, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Private equity task force
[edit]Hi - I noticed your inclusion of the private equity task force box on your user page. I would certainly welcome your efforts albeit on a topic other than Luke Heron. I am interested if you have a personal relationship with him. This is not the first time an article has popped up and been deleted. I hope this does not discourage you from participating in Wikipedia but there are certainly other topics that could also use your assistance. |► ϋrбanяeneωaℓ • TALK ◄| 23:39, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. Wikipedia
[edit]Stuff sometimes get deleted. But you can ask for deleted articles to be moved to your userspace so you can work on them and if better sourcing or information is found they can be recreated. It's berest not to get too emotional about any one article, AfD or discussion. Sometimes the winds blow one way, sometimes another. The key is substantial coverage in reliable sources. I say go for it with Scott Fletcher, Tom Winnifrith, Nigel Wray, and Nick Leslau. This is a collaborative encyclopedia, so others can help fix up any mistakes you make. And articles at AfD sometimes get fixed up that way too. Good luck! Please let me know if I can be of any help. ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:36, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

I want to offer some help / advice
[edit]Hi -
As you will notice I am the person who has nominated your article on Luke Heron for deletion. First of all, this is not a reflection on you or your work and it is not a capricious decision. This is the second time I have come across this article and it appears to me, as someone who works closely with private equity, venture capital and various entrepreneurs that this is just not a subject that should be on Wikipedia. In addition to the fact that this person is just not up to the standards that Wikipedia sets for notability for articles about living people, I err on the side of caution with someone like this who is clearly focused on self-promotion. I have made my arguments and seen yours on the AfD discussion and we can have that discussion there, where it is appropriate.
Putting that aside for the moment, I don't want you to leave with a bad taste as I went through this process a long time ago when I started writing articles about private equity firms and people. I saw you signed up for the Private Equity Task Force- I started that effort - and am always looking for help. That is also how I came across the first article on Luke Heron.
I would like to offer my help where possible - to steer you in a direction that will be less frustrating. There are many tangential topics in venture capital and entrepreneurship that require help from a knowlegable and enthusiastic contributor. There is a list of items here and I am happy to provide some additional ideas or respond to any of yours. I think the boundaries for notability are fairly commonsense but if you need help on that I would be happy to provide that.
Good luck to you - let me know where I can help you. |► ϋrбanяeneωaℓ • TALK ◄| 04:39, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you UrbanRenewal - you are being very reasonable indeed and I am very interested in helping with the private equity taskforce. I am not sure I agree about the self-promotion angle on the internet as most of the articles about him appear to be "tips" from the time he was a tipster, or press quotes of him and what he had tipped. Though his own website is clearly promotional - I am pretty sure my article is completely non-promotional, which very few people appear to acknowledge. My reasoning for his inclusion is due to the fact he is pioneering a new area of investment and trying to package collectables into an investment class - I am interested in other "pioneers" too so will try and move on (though I hope at the very least I will be allowed to develop it in my user area and not publish until you agree with notability). Perhaps the best thing would have been to build up the alternative investment section first and detail the movers and shakers in proper context.
As you say, this is not the right forum for discussion. Thank you once again so much for your generous response, my faith in Wiki and its processes has been strengthened through this process - prior to joining it all seemed a little wishy-washy, but the fact is there are genuine processes in place that protect the integrity of information and that is for the benefit of everyone. Again, I am very keen to contribute to any areas of the private equity task force that I can.....and to learn along the way. (82.41.203.72 (talk) 07:36, 24 July 2009 (UTC))

Luke Heron
[edit]You can find the userfied article at User:MyraSendak/Luke. There is some good general advice about fixing articles on my talk page from recent requests. Spartaz Humbug! 17:11, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you so much for allowing me the time to develop this area of interest. I want to produce a series of articles and I hope that I can develop them all in my userspace area - which on reflection was perhaps what should have been done in the first place. The good thing that has come from the deletion thread is a lot of help and support for me as a new user for which I am grateful. I hope that I can get the input and advice from even the chap that proposed the article for deletion twice. He has actually been very helpful with his advice and I am looking forward to working with him on his Private Equity Task Force. MyraSendak (talk) 19:41, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thats a good plan, work on something first to get the feel for how wikipedia works. Good luck Spartaz Humbug! 19:43, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Adoption Offer
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia!
[edit]Hello there, MyraSendak. I'd like to welcome you to Wikipedia. I noticed you are seeking a mentor. Let me introduce myself.
About Me
[edit]I have been kicking around online here since April'09. I struggled, like most newbies, and slowly gained experience. Most of what I learned was self taught. For months I edited and warred (under a different identity), making friends and also disgruntling several editors. This month I started fresh under my new name.
I tinker with improvements, including fixing page layouts. I've created some userboxes in the past. I love tutoring newbies and whacking vandals.
My Services
[edit]I answer questions, show solutions to problems and give advice. I also handout some cool goodies.
If you decide to take me up on your offer, leave a message on my talk page. Linuxzarth (R) 22:06, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
