March 7

[edit]

Stop removing notable names from the March 7 page. Just because you don't know who they are doesn't mean they aren't considered notable figures in their respected fields. I am working on their own pages, so for the time being just leave them on the March 7th page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.110.209.34 (talkcontribs)

Please do not add yourself or people without Wikipedia articles to this list. No red links, please. Do not link multiple occurrences of the same year, just link the first occurrence. [edit]

I believe the edits to userpage of User talk:Opelio were wrongly assigned to me, I am a strong anti-vandalism fighter (please see the edits made under my username). It has also been ages since I have edited not being logged in. The ip-adres I use is used by different people, maybe this is the reason why edits got "crossed" I strongly support anti-vandalism since it lowers standards and quality of wikipedia, it is also a loss of server capacity. I did not vandalize.

[edit]

In the page Earliest living United States president, Jimmy Carter was listed as the current earliest living president.

This conflicts with his date of birth being 4 months later than George H. W. Bush.

Jimmy Carter was born 1-OCT-1924 and George H. W. Bush was born 6-12-1924 according to Whitehouse.gov therefore it is Bush who is the current earliest living president.

If I have misunderstood, please advise.

As I understand it, the article lists the living president that served longest ago, I'm certainly not as familiar with former US President as any US citizen would be, but to me, Jimmy Carter served before George H. W. Bush. Since the former is still alive (isn't he?), I'd leave him where he was. Now, I understand your (valid) point regarding who's older, but IMHO it's not what the list is about. (By the way, I removed the warning since it was clearly not vandalism, I apologize for issuing it to you) Cheers - Myanw 09:01, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pele misunderstanding

[edit]

I'm not bothered about whether that sentence is in or not.. I'm not sure that I even like it. I was just curious as to why it had been removed with an edit summary of "removing vandalism", that's all. aLii 12:12, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was The Weather Channel staff or meterologists that did this to the article.

Vandal Patrol

[edit]

Dear Myanw, I was trying to restore the Art pgae, to a former version, you were doing it the same time (so I got the edit conflict :-) ), but can't we go to a newer version than Martinbot, which was your restoration point. The next edit was identified by the ISP but I think it is the newer version, which is not a vandal. Best wishes, --Cyril Thomas 15:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Mmm I checked the intermediate revisions and I think every one of them contains vandalism, if I missed anything, feel free to revert to whichever version you prefer, I've got no problem with it. Cheers and keep up the good work :-) - Myanw 15:15, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

thanks for restoring the interwiki links i accidently deleted on Alfonso Caycedo. not really sure how you got there that fast; i was about to put them back in myself when i saw they were already back.

interestingly (to me), this happened because i was nuking the entire external links section, which was the last section of the article. i clicked on the section edit link, nuked all text (too quickly, it turns out), previewed it, and saved it. didn't know until this moment that categories and interwiki links get appended to the last section of an article, and since i was only editing the section, the preview didn't clue me in that anything was wrong. now i know.

You're welcome. Well, actually, I was there to remove the "thank you" thingy the IP left on the page but you were quicker than me, so I checked the rest of the article, in case someone forgot something, and noticed the accidental removal of the interwiki links. Don't worry about it, it happened to me too the first few times I removed spam (that's why I always check if they're still there when external links are removed). I guess we all learn something new every day :-). Happy editing! - Myanw 19:18, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: vandalism warnings

[edit]

Good morning. You just added 2 vandalism warnings here. May I ask what templates you used when tagging the page with the warnings? It appears that those templates need updating but I'm having trouble finding the source pages. Thanks. Rossami (talk) 14:30, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I use the old {{subst:test}} template, which comes by default with Twinkle. When I started RC patrol, someone gave me a link to the TestTemplates (now I see that it's deprecated), I believe you'll be able to find the source here [1]. Cheers! - Myanw 16:22, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm stumped. Template:Test does not insert the datestamped header that I saw in this edit. How do you apply those templates? Do you apply them by hand? Does the script apply them? If so, do you know which script?
I'm also concerned because in this example edit, the template inserted the hidden tag asserting that it came from Template:Test3 but the wording of the warning you added has the extra sentence about IP addresses, leading me to believe that this was a forked template but that the hidden tag didn't get updated.
Thanks. Rossami (talk) 18:59, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, I use Twinkle which regroups several scripts, I'm afraid I have no clue which one is responsible for the templates used to warn. But I guess you could ask a question on the project's talk page, I perused it quickly and it seems you're the first one to express this concern (but I could have missed something). I'm sorry if I'm not really helpful here, I don't know anything about JavaScript but I sure hope you'll find a solution, please keep me posted, I'd like to know if you succeeded. Keep up the good work! - Myanw 20:17, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the new scripts produce a much better result. I'm not sure how much value there is to the anon-IP sentence, though. The first time on the page can be helpful but it will just clutter it up if that gets added every time. I'll keep watch to see how much that happens. Thanks for figuring out that it was the update. I'll pass the word on to others. Have a good evening. Rossami (talk) 01:51, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you revert my edit on the Rugrats Charaters page? I wasn't vandelizing the page, I was correcting it. Drew and Charlotte are married. Those quotation marks shouldn't belong there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.121.21.37 (talkcontribs).

Hello, please see this diff. You deleted nearly everything in the adults' section, it might have been accidental, but the removal of such a large portion of the text, with a misleading edit summary such as the one you gave, rang a bell in my head. I assumed good faith and told you that you had removed something which, IMHO, should stay. Feel free to change whatever you tried to change, but, please, try not to accidently delete anything in the process. - Myanw 12:58, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, that was accidental. I apologise for not noticing.

I was sure that adding a "You have new messages (last change)" banner to the top of a couple of pages would be something that no one had ever done before, and might go unnoticed until someone (likely the first person to view the page) tried to click on it and realised it was vandalism and reverted it. Deletion notification for a page I didn't contribute to?

[edit]

I'm rather dumbfounded by this one. I have a notification on my talk page that adapt is going to be deleted (which it was just afterward), but as far as I know I never even contributed to the article. The only guess I have is that, other than being a random mistake by the notification bot, I could've contributed to an earlier version of the article, before the change to whatever content got it deleted. Could you please explain what happened?  –radiojon 02:07, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks for your response, I think that must be exactly what it is. Is it possible for you to only undelete the good edit, and keep the subsequent edits deleted?  –radiojon 06:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Radiojon created the page originally (back in 2004!) and was notified as the original creator, rather than the editor who should have been notified who'd applied later changes. My bad (I'm not using an automated tool; as an admin I can look at deleted revisions but didn't look in enough detail) and, I suppose, the automated thingy that Myanw's using should have a bit more sense as well. Apologies for the confusion caused. (this message copied to Radiojon and Myanw) Tonywalton  | Talk 08:15, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
