Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did to Manakish, without verifying it by citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 03:16, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As you have mentioned that my edit about Manakish was without resource, I would like to inform you, and you should be knowing obviously, that you did not add any resource, whether reliable or not, to your claim that the Manakish is of Syrian roots, however I will correct your info and ADDED to that I will add resource, and make sure not to ever edit my words unless you have a reliable resource.

Hi

[edit]

Hello, I'm Elias, I've been noticing your activity. I'm excited someone new is editing Lebanon related articles. I don't edit mainstream articles much, I take care of the lesser know people and aspects of Lebanese culture and history. I keep away from political articles as much as I can. Let me know your main areas of interest maybe we can help each other out. regards - Elias Ziade 18:04, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Elias Ziade, Thanks for the message! Yes, well said, People, and especially Arabs do not know the history of Lebanon and the true figures, we need to make our voices heard out loud. I have problem with the Arabic articles since I have found out that it is not easy to update them since they need approval, also my Arabic is so weak so I need some support in this area. Also we need to cooperate well. Maybe we can make a platform of profiles maybe on facebook to let things get easier and more efficient. Lets make Positive Action for Lebanon. God protect Lebanon.

Ok, a piece of advice first. Listen to other editors, like Werieth for example they have years of experience and your edits are over zealous and disruptive at times, also you have been engaging in unjustified reverts; this may lead to a block. Another point is adding references; never add info, alter passages without quoting a reliable source, this damages article quality tremendously. Always use the edit summary. Stop adding galleries, they are cumbersome and ugly, take a look at other pages that achieved a decent level in the assessment scale (look at the page's talk page to see quality assessment). It's good to have your voice heard but no one likes someone who gives the image of a zealot, so be careful.
I will append a list of pages for you to read in a new section, please read all the rules and abide by them especially copyright and referencing. -Elias Ziade 08:33, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Elias Ziade, Thanks for the precious advices. I am new to wikipedia editing. Please, feel free to edit anything I have done since seems I need plenty of advices in this field. Good day!

The best thing you can do right now is just STOP! stop skewing facts and changing data while keeping the same cited source. If your disruptive behavior resumes i will be reporting you until you get blocked . -Elias Ziade 12:35, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article, specifically Lebanon, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Werieth (talk) 10:22, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding non-free files to articles where they fail WP:NFCC. If you continue I will be forced to seek administrative resolution, which may result in your being blocked. Werieth (talk) 10:36, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, I would like to know what is your role in wikipedia. Second of all, please clarify what do you mean by non-free files to articles where they fail WP:NFCC?

Thanks!

Files such as File:American_University_of_Beirut_logo.svg are considered WP:NONFREE and subject to extremely limited usage. The way you are using them fail WP:NFCC. Werieth (talk) 11:10, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Mehio

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Mehio requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Werieth (talk) 09:48, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalizing religion in Lebanon, Again

[edit]

You claimed that" Plenty of reliable resources and updated statistics were removed, it is not beneficial to delete information and stick to the old data." and changed the statistics to the numbers below
{{bar percent|All Muslims|darkgreen|54}}
{{bar percent|[[Christianity in Lebanon|All Christians]]|lightblue|41.5}}
{{bar percent|[[Druze]]|purple|5.5}}

Now please do the math, and point out how your edits are beneficial. Stop this nonesense please.-Elias Ziade 11:50, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Elias Ziade Are you serious you undo everything I did, the photos I've aligned, the photos of churches, the link to the unversities and hospitals in Lebanon just because of the math calculations!!! why don't you fix this simple thing by reading the source I've added (regarding the updated statistics of religion in Lebanon done by the US dept. of state) instead of deleting everything I've been doing for more than a week. This is what I call NONSENSE! In case you were the one who triggerred the block for me, then you should re-consider thinking why you did this in the first place... Do you like to have a Lebanese voice oppressed because of some math errors? Why didn't you correct the updates instead of deleting them all and sticking to the old data? Do you like the christians to stick in wikipedia to 39% (old data) instead of 41.5% (updated)?

No it's not just calculation, your edits were harmful, adding a box with SOLELY the images of Lebanese christians is seen as an act of hatred and intolerance and above all you are breaching wikipedia's principle of Neutrality, read especially this. I also pointed out in the section below how overloading pages with images is not acceptable. I reverted your edits for these reasons and more. if you had chosen to read and abide by the rules this would not have happened so don't feel personally targeted, your edits simply did not comply with the norms and you have already a dozen of eyes watching your moves. -Elias Ziade 06:23, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree but why don't you add the new statistics in order to update the numbers? We got a reliable resource (US Dept of State).

I could, but this entire subject doesn't interest me, this whole game of numbers and weights is harmful to the collective morale. I will leave you to do the edits, just be careful to update the source and write an edit summary. please be judicious in your edits and very careful. You will soon be able to update the numbers yourself, i will keep an eye and point out if you do something wrong, just don't repeat your mistakes, I hope that I can be of help and not have to revert your edits again
  • So no overloading pages with images,
  • please be neutral, objective and impartial in your contributions;
  • I know you are passionate but you also have to be reasonable and report the truth as it is and support your claims with reliable sources.
  • Be attentive to your writing tone too, remember it's an encyclopedia
  • A couple of edits that puzzled me are: you wrote at the top of the Lebanon page infobox "republique libanaise" as a native name, it's french, it's not native, be careful , the native language is arabic and the arabic name is aljumhuriah al lubnaniyya (here's example for Armenia : Հայաստանի Հանրապետություն
    Hayastani Hanrapetutyun)
  • You also claimed that French is spoken at the native level in Ashrafieh in a caption below saint nicholas stairs, we both know this is not true, and above all such claim needs a source
this place is a mosaic, it used to be nice before others meddled in, your edits have to reflect that, not show only one side of society (only churches and christian people). You can do a lot here, there is a lot of uncharted territory. Don't despair bcs of a block, learn, read and compare -Elias Ziade 07:19, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the time for writing this, but as far as I know, you have no authority or power over what people write, you have to abide by the rules as well, you didn't make the rules and have zero right to say you "You will soon be able to update the numbers yourself", who are you to judge other when and how they should do things? Re-think how you consider yourself and in which position you claim yourself you are.

Also saying that "i will keep an eye and point out if you do something wrong, just don't repeat your mistakes" again does not reflect the factual part of your role.

Finally, updating the numbers is an important part of it no matter what you say.

Just do your part of the job and get to know where your rights end.

Please read

[edit]

Please read this and this before resuming posting and "aligning" images to pages. Also get familiar with writing with a formal tone and avoid puffery and exageration and read especially about referencing. When adding images please also take into account if the image use is justified on an unrelated page.

Don't be angry, most of us got blocked at one time or another, it's a learning experience. Just stick with the rules and stop excessively decorating pages and trying to shift reality; there are plenty of more constructive ways to help promote your community without undermining others in the process.

The block will expire in a day and you will be able to resume editing. I suggest you start a new article, and work on not having it deleted by providing reliable sources and proof of notability, it will be a nice learning experience for you. -Elias Ziade 06:12, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Then what do you call this I just saw your sulfurous comment above, keep up this attitude and good luck

SULFUROUS?

ALSO WHO SAID STOPPING VANDALISM IS YOUR BUSINESS? ALSO HOW ON EARTH MY EDITS WERE CONSIDERED VANDAL?

Deliberately falsifying the percentages of people so they do not reflect the values stated in the source is in all circumstances vandalism (particularly when it has been specifically pointed out to the editor that doing so is vandalim). And all editors are responsible for fighting vandalism, particularly deliberate falsification of sources in sensitive editing areas. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 16:53, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The percentage of demographics was relied on US DEPT OF STATE check thesources I have added to the numbers. Elias ziade is on the other hand refusing any change to the topic Lebanon under the excuse vandalism. Kindly check the edits I have added and numbers with their resource and let me know. Wikipedia is an open source and should be updated. I am requesting you to check all the updates and the way elias ziade or elias plus have been dealing with all changes although first I respected his advices and I asked him for any advice but later he reverted back to the very previous without keeping any of my edits whether percentage or not. He then described my words as sulfuric. I am requesting my edits to be checked thoroughly since I trust the administration will respect my effort to update and improve the topic Lebanon which belongs to all Lebanese and not just me or elias. Please be fair and check my edits were they all that bad to all be deleted? Thank you.

you repeatedly failed to provide any sources to support your changes. AND left the existing sources which did not support the numbers you added leaving a potential for great confusion. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 22:57, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
