Hi Ms Kabintie. It is nice that we have more Wikipedia editors from Kenya. You are welcome to contribute more content about Kenya in Swahili Wikipedia too.--Jadnapac (talk) 20:09, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Jadnapac for always being so helpful.

Boniface Mwangi

[edit]

Your edits on boniface mwangi are vandalism and promotional. Material on boniface mwangi has been cited and written by independent sources to pass WP:GNG. Wikipedia editors need to be WP:NEUTRAL. -154.79.144.240 (talk) 07:13, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The material has sources from the nation too which is a valid source about the material.

-154.79.144.240 (talk) 07:21, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear User talk:154.79.144.240 As noted in my edit, the basis of the section in question is allegations from a blogger, and it primarily quotes the blog as the primary source. The secondary sources from the mainstream newspapers only report about the activist's arrest, which were factual but the allegations that "he faked arrests" are only substantiated in the blogpost, which contravenes Wikipedia citation policies.

I shall open up the dispute to third parties to weigh in on the matter. --Ms Kabintie (talk) 07:39, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia and the edit-a-thon on SDGs in September 2020

[edit]
Some cookies to welcome you!

Hi,

I am EMsmile, and I am a part of a group of people wishing to improve SDG-related articles on Wikipedia which is why we are organising this edit-a-thon. If you have any questions about this work, please feel free to ask your questions here. Please sign your name using four tildes (~~~~) when you post on talk pages. This will automatically produce your username and the date. You can find the "tilde" character on your keyboard. For example on English keyboards it tends to be to the left of the "enter" key.

This page explains in more detail how to use Talk pages: Help:Talk_pages. EMsmile (talk) 15:44, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I'm just wondering, will the edits we'll be making once the edit-a-thon kicks off, automatically reflect on the dashboard or there is something else editors need to do after adding new content/ making changes on respective articles? -Ms Kabintie (talk) 08:52, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ms Kabintie, good question: the edits will start to be logged in the Dashboard from the start date that is chosen in the dashboard. I am a bit undecided when to make the start date. I have made it 17 August for now because I am thinking some volunteers might start earlier so we might as well start logging then. What do you think? Or should I make it 1 September instead? We now also have a volunteer sign-up sheet for more the off-wiki communication. https://forms.gle/pJd2aSfMGUZzuSWG7 . Please use this for any off-wiki advertising, like on Twitter. EMsmile (talk) 11:25, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi EMsmile i think 1st September is more ideal.--Ms Kabintie (talk) 04:28, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi EMsmile please remind me; how do I access the wiki cheat sheet? trying to search in vain. Need to check out how to link an article to an existing Wikipedia Page.--Ms Kabintie (talk) 06:05, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi User:Ms Kabintie, Do you mean a wikilink? See here Task 1: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Online_edit-a-thon_SDGs_September_2020/Tasks#Editing_Wikipedia_articles EMsmile (talk) 06:39, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Ms Kabintie, thanks for your recent edits to the article on SDG 16. This has inspired me to also work on it a bit and to set up a to-do list specifically for SDG 16 here. I hope you find it useful. EMsmile (talk) 04:08, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback EMsmile and for the to-do list.--Ms Kabintie (talk) 12:42, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Guide: How to contribute climate change information to Wikipedia

Hi,

I am EMsmile, and I am a part of a group of people wishing to improve climate change-related articles on Wikipedia. We are organising the "Wiki4Climate" online edit-a-thon from 24 November to 1 December 2020. Please take part by registering here. This event is organised by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) and Future Climate for Africa (FCFA). If you have any questions about this event, please feel free to ask your question on the event's talk page here. Please also join us in the event's Slack channel for easier communication and to make this into a collaborative effort. To join the Slack channel, please click here.

We also recommend this new guide to you: Guide: How to contribute climate change information to Wikipedia (Baker, E., McNamara, L., Mackay, B., and Vincent, K. (2020). How to contribute climate change information to Wikipedia: A guide for researchers, practitioners and communicators. Cape Town: Climate and Development Knowledge Network and Future Climate for Africa). EMsmile (talk) 02:40, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks EMsmile for the invitation, I would love to participate but unfortunately the timeframe is not favourable to me, but I've spread the word in my local community. Ms Kabintie (talk) 16:30, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:40 Sticks Film.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:40 Sticks Film.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:22, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article You Again (2019 film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Nothing found to help it pass WP:NFILM.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Edit-a-thon Kenya

[edit]

Hey, So when are we going to start the teaching on how to edit I am in desperate need. Alvin kipchumba (talk) 09:58, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alvin kipchumba I was actually going to reach out to you today, we had our edit-a-thon trainning on 26th October, this was before you signed up on our dashboard. But we also noted you were one of the top contributors during the edit-a-thon and you even earned yourself a certificate. Are you based in Nairobi? The rest of the top contributors got their certificates during the closing ceremony on November 30th. There was a name mix up on the part of our project manager, he had assumed Alvin Kipchuma and Cosmas Chuma, another participant in our dashboard was one and the same person. --Ms Kabintie (talk) 12:36, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, it was quite a meeting, anyways I am based in Kisumu. So I think may be email will be fine so that you can tell me the major points or the certificate itself I also want to say something Alvin kipchumba (talk) 14:52, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You've got mail

Hello, Ms Kabintie. Please check your email; you've got mail!
It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template. Alvin kipchumba (talk) 08:11, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm JPxG. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Boniface Mwangi—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thanks. jp×g 08:37, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear JPxG can you explain why you have reverted the edit when you have not responded to my grounds for ommiting the information, which does not meet Wikipedia policy on Biographies of Living Persons.--Ms Kabintie (talk) 09:23, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Ms Kabintie! Your additions to Galana Kulalu Project have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 02:35, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the information DanCherek i've taken note and will make the necessary ammendments. --Ms Kabintie (talk) 06:29, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Melissa Kiplagat moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Melissa Kiplagat, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. November 2021

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from International Law Commission into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 07:21, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
