William Henry Barlow

[edit]

Hi, I note that you work for the ICE and have stated that this image is not Barlow. I am the original uploader of the image which I got from here where it was erroneously captioned as him. Thanks for pointing out the error, i'll get the image removed. Please let me know if there are any free use images of Barlow (or any other ex-president) around and I will gladly upload them and add them to the relevent articles.

I am in the midst of a project to create articles for every ex-president of the ICE which I have listed, there are a few which I have little to no information on (the gaps in the list) and would welcome any help you can offer in this area. Cheers - Dumelow (talk) 18:21, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Barlow's portrait and adding it to the list of presidents, I have added it to his article and added the image licence (As Collier, the artist, died more than 70 years ago it is in the public domain). I am glad the ICE is willing to allow low resolution images of the presidents to be used on Wikipedia, despite the need to allow for commercial reuse (as a completely free encyclopedia these clauses are not allowed).

Thanks for offering your help in getting more info on the past presidents. It is something of an ad-hoc project with me adding two or three new articles every month and gradually building up the list. I regrettably have not accessed the ICE library for presidents on whom I have no information as I usually just move onto the next one and hope to come back to the missing articles later. I am up to Richard Redmayne on the list at the moment, so anyone before that without an article means I have not been able to find any info on them. In addition many of the presidents are only stubs (short articles) and so almost any additional info is useful. As you can see it has been a slow and steady project of mine so many thanks for offering to help.

Could I also suggest that you join Wikiproject Civil Engineering, a group of civil engineers and enthusiasts who discuss and improve CE articles on wikipedia. We are a relatively group compared to some of teh other wikiprojects but there is a core of dedicated editors who work on it. Finally if you do have any questions on wikipedia please do not hesitate to post at my talk page or that on WP:CEng. Cheers - Dumelow (talk) 16:56, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
