Speedy deletion nomination of Patrick Leavy
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that Patrick Leavy, a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It appears to be a test page. (See section G2 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do, and take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
- It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Deleted article
[edit]First off, I think it's sweet that you want to create a page for someone who I'm guessing is a doctor that focuses on cancer. I had a grandmother who had cancer and had some amazing doctors, so I can completely understand the desire to honor people who make a difference in your personal life. However the problem is that the page didn't really have anything in it and came across as a test edit as a result. There's also the issue in that most people do not pass notability guidelines on Wikipedia, which is incredibly strict. It's not entirely fair that people like that can't have pages, but unfortunately the guidelines are not going to change any time soon and we can't have pages on people that don't pass notability guidelines, regardless of how worthy you or I may think that they are.
Secondly, I do need to warn you to remain WP:CIVIL when talking to other editors. You posted a fairly rude message on another editor's page, which can be seen as harassment- which is not tolerated on Wikipedia. I know that it's easy to take deletions personally, especially in situations like that, but please treat other editors with respect and do not call them names. If you continue to make edits like that you run the risk of being blocked from Wikipedia and I'd like to avoid that happening if possible. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:12, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
