License tagging for Image:My9-2D.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:My9-2D.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

please explain[edit]

Hello. Can you please explain this edit here. Several months ago, I noticed a large amount of material had been added from the memory-alpha article about Phase II to the Wikipedia article. Memory-alpha and Wikipedia are under incompatible licences, and so therefore taking other people's material from one to the other is usually illegal. Over the last month or so, some anonymous IP has reverted my edits, reintroducing the copyvio material. Are you this person? Morwen - Talk 23:36, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

JPEG and PNG[edit]

Hi! I noticed that you've uploaded a number of screenshots in the JPEG format. The JPEG format is really not for screenshots because it blurs them and can increase their file size. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
