I rarely give these things out, but you deserve one for putting yourself in harm's way in my defense during my RfA. Crockspot 20:26, 20 August 2007 (UTC) |
Isn't this getting just a little bit WP:POINTy? I mean, I see no reason why people who self-identify with the "Movement" shouldn't be named, even if it doesn't have "members". — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 18:07, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- But how to we identify those people? Do we, as Wikipedians, just decide who is or isn't in the "movement". If we have reliable sources where people say they are part of something called the "9/11 Truth Movement", then no problem. But absent that, how do we tell? Regnery
Hello, Regnery's first three books were the [edit] "pro-nazi" books In Darkest Germany, by Victor Gollancz The Hitler in Ourselves by Max Picard and The High Cost of Vengeance by Freda Utley. The Regnery family has a long history of White Nationalism and extremistism. It will not be hidden here on Wikipedia. Your friend says hi. •smedleyΔbutler• 20:22, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think you understand my perspective: you're free to add anything you want to these articles, just follow our rules for reliable sources, and pay attention to problems of undue weight. And keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a soapbox for political propaganda. If you do that, you won't see me involved with your articles. MortonDevonshire Yo · 05:06, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
AfD Evidence
Hi Morton, I found a bunch of new sources discussing the film The Maltese Double Cross – Lockerbie and listed them at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Maltese Double Cross – Lockerbie. Obviously some of this needs to be incorporated into the article, but I think this is more than sufficient to make this one a keeper. Was hoping you could take a look and consider withdrawing your nomination since it now seems to meet the Wikipedia:Notability (films) criteria you based your AfD vote upon. Or if you still think it should be deleted perhaps you can elaborate on your rationale.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 21:19, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Quick update, I've now radically altered The Maltese Double Cross – Lockerbie, providing a bunch of sources that I think irrefutably establish the notability of this film. For the record I have no opinion about the movie--though I have a feeling it's not exactly stellar journalism--but rather just think we should have an article about it because it was widely discussed in the mid-90s. Reading through old UK newspapers from the time makes the notability quite clear in my opinion--even if the film is a crackpot piece of work partially financed by Libya.
- Anyhow I highly recommend that you withdraw your good-faith AfD since the article is a completely different animal now which will almost certainly pass the AfD. It would save some time, and I would think you may have changed your opinion of it anyway, thanks.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 23:44, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Your Terabithia songs query
I happened to notice your query in which you remarked that it "isn't a Wikipedia issue". If you've yet to receive helpful responses and are still interested in pursuing the info, may I suggest posting the query on the Entertainment Reference Desk. --Good luck, Deborahjay 13:37, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Architects and engineers for 9/11 truth
I went through some of the links, and I was interested in how many of the credentialed guys (more than electrical engineer and documentary filmmaker) came from ETH in Switzerland... not unlike Ganser. Is Switzerland becoming the hub for academic trutherism? Torturous Devastating Cudgel 16:56, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe we could write an article about their lack of academic rigor, or perhaps a List of conspiracy theorists employed by ETH Switzerland. I don't know what they're doing there in Switzerland, but nothing Ganser has written would ever pass the review and spading process at an American university research journal. Maybe their writing and review processes are different there? MortonDevonshire Yo · 18:00, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Nice consistency in your notability standards. That trait seems to be lacking with others. --DHeyward 08:09, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

His Excellency The Mighty Grand Poobah of Trollipedia, Morton Devonshire!
Well, now that the Überhighwayman, a geriatric shock-troop for Alex Jones, has declared me His Excellency The Mighty Grand Poobah of Trollipedia, I have some confessions to make: (1) Yes, I am a Jew and a Zionist, you caught me; (2) as to my association with The Illuminated Father, well, the Brothers have had their claws in me, as I was trained by their minions for 7 years, and I once visited The Dear Father's home town of Nijmegen for a very secret meeting (ouch, you got me again); and (3) Bush/Cheney, I would rather not get into my association with them, and will deny all connection. Mephisto? Nah, that's your buddy, Mr. Potatohead. Ahh, but how can I proudly display my new award, unless you post it here? Please do so. Thanks. MortonDevonshire Yo · 17:13, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- I guess that's why you can't get Mephistos from L.L.Bean. Tom Harrison Talk 18:10, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- Congratulations on this prestigious award. I expect it is quite an honor to be recognized by someone with such a well-known blog. In fact, I count 4 comments on that blog, 3 from people with the same username and picture as the blog's author. What are the chances of that coincidence; so many people using that picture and username showing up to comment on the same blog!--Isotope23 talk 16:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
MySpace? Can you say obsession?

Crap? Belief?
Hi Morton, if you aren't deeply committed to it, I'd appreciate it if you removed your vaguely insulting remark about my beliefs on the talk page of the collapse of the WTC article. I have not said anything about my belief in fracture waves. And I think the editors of the International Journal of Fracture are more relevantly "well-educated" than I to determine whether or not it is crap. In any case, the remark doesn't add anything to the discussion.--Thomas Basboll 07:49, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- You seem determined to evangelize on behalf of these theories, so yes, it is relevant. We're supposed to be editing a neutral encyclopedia here, not one bent on promoting pseudo-scientific ideas. MortonDevonshire Yo · 20:37, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with Morton. This project was meant to be the "sum of all human knowledge." It was never meant to be a place where it becomes a soapbox for theories and ideas that someone decided use as a propaganda tool. Here's a good example that might help explain - You know, we have a Moon landing hoax article. Shall we ramrod this into the Apollo program and Moon landing articles to where we look like a website full of garbage? This is an encyclopedia. Everything has its place, and in a nutshell, that must be maintained. Anything beyond that becomes soapboxing, etc. JungleCat Shiny!/Oohhh! 01:58, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- I see you are committed to the insult. Very well. See you around the article.--Thomas Basboll 05:25, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- My post here was not meant to add to any insult. You believe in some things which are controversial and attract heated debates at times. Are you complying with Wikipedia policy with your editing? Are you soapboxing? As far as any discussions you have had with others on this website (and future), you have to accept that if you stand for what you believe in, you will bump heads with someone. That's a given fact around here. How you respond to it is up to you. JungleCat Shiny!/Oohhh! 22:50, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- Noted. See you around also.--Thomas Basboll 06:17, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
