As a member of WikiProject Comics, I thought you might be interested in the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight we have set up. Please feel free to vote on the articles listed, although bear in mind that a vote for a particular article means you are pledging to help improve the article. The goal of the collaboration is to improve articles to Featured Article status, as we feel Comics is under-represented in that area. Thanks for your help. Image Tagging Image:Max-thumb.gif
This image may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Max-thumb.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Rossrs 17:03, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
fair use?
I tagged the image fair use, as it conforms with "Cover art from various items, for identification and critical commentary (not for identification without critical commentary)" as least insofar as I understand it.

List of deities of Dungeons & Dragons
Nice work on the devils on List of deities of Dungeons & Dragons. Thanks for the hand. -Harmil 04:04, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, since I started this project to
<ref>
all of the gods on that page, my tactic has roughly been this: if a being of "deity or deity-like stats" is described in any 3.5 material (or 3.0 stuff that wasn't re-published), then I include them. The key word there is described. In some cases names are used, such as Heward's Handy Haversack, but that's not a description, so I don't include him.
- Sadly, the table at the end of FC1 is rather in the middle. It gives some small detail, but is mostly just a listing of names. I'd say that if you can find an old (pre-3.0) description of any of those that actually suggests that they're deity-level powerful, then they should probably go in the deities page, but if not, then it's clear that some of these are not quite there. For example, Gresil is more of a librarian from the description, there. -Harmil 12:34, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the prompt, you'll see I took your suggestion. I just feel like a bit of a newbie still on this site and I don't like to be too pre-emptive. It was really necessary, though. And the way it's been removed leaves the door open for a less-unwieldly version to be reinserted. Cheers! Anchoress 05:01, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Hexblade and Warmage
I don't think there's any reason to insist upon nomenclature consistency in these articles' titles (Hexblade and Warmage), but if you want to pursue it, please request a page move on Wikipedia:Requested moves, but please do not just copy and paste the contents (doing that destroys the page's edit history). -- JHunterJ 17:30, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- BTW, I edited your note on my talk page to put a colon in the category link. That way you hed it, you put my talk page into that category. :-). Putting a colon after the square brackets will do what you wanted: [[:Category:whatevers]]. -- JHunterJ 18:09, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- Arg! Putting my own article in [[:Category:dork]] starting now. Once again with the thanks for the pointers.

The "ironically" that one user posted wasn't about getting lymphoma per se, but about getting "T-cell" lymphoma. Funny in a morbid sort of way, although I wouldn't argue for overtly stating that in the article; the readers could make that spurious connection if they wanted to. Wahkeenah 16:42, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- That actually is pretty funny. Its inclusion or exclusion from the article doesn't bother me at all, now that I "get" it. It probably isn't appropriate tone, but thanks for the heads up. --mordicai. 16:46, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- The way I've seen to get around the over-use of "ironically" is to say "coincidentally", which serves to call attention to it while not making any assumptions about whether it's "funny" or not, humor being in the eye of the beholder. For example, since I don't know Mr. T personally, I can't say whether he would find it funny. It's possible, given his willingness to parody his own character for commerical reasons, but wouldn't count on it in this case. Wahkeenah 17:43, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Don't say Toolbox or I'll get confused
Just a heads-up: {{fact}} does the same thing as {{citation needed}}, and is much easier to remember I think. Ford MF 07:12, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- Huh, that explains some real confusion I've had on a few articles. I'd seen the tags & kind of thought they were <!-- style imbeded notation for editors. I always really hated them. Now of course they make sense, but personally, I still like {{cite needed}} for actually saying what it means. I mean, if "fact" fooled me, I'm going to go with the alternative. --mordicai. 19:11, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Re:Ikou
Oh, it's nothing. It actually has nothing to do with you, I've been meaning to do that for a while (the "ikō" still had that macron, so you can tell the "u" is intended).—Loveはドコ? (talk • contribs) 22:23, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, the "ō" was why I added the "u," but as I did it I was wracking my brain trying to remember how to best put the verb in, with or without the "informal" ending. I decided to just do it & hope some other editor would fix it if it was wrong, which is why I was pleased to see it happen so fast. --mordicai. 14:39, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

D&D wiki project consensus
A call to all members of the D&D wiki project. We are currently having a major dispute that needs to be settled by all members of the D&D wiki project. The dispute is as follows. 1. Should we put disambiguation tags on D&D articles preemptively or should we wait until there is an article conflict with some other Wikipedia article. Vote on preemptive or wait.
2. What should we label these tags? Example "child's play (module)", or "child's play (adventure)" and at this point we are taking all suggestions.

Harry Potter and pureblood status
I suppose if someone has two wizard parents that doesn't necessarily make them "at most 1/4 pureblood"-- what if both parents were halfblood themselves? Not that I disagree with your edit. Marnanel 22:55, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- I only had so much room in the summary field; sure, you could argue about Harry being a quadroon or whatever; my point is more that the terminology of "half-blood" doesn't apply & wasn't needed to prove the point of the sentence; easier just to streamline it out. Since racism doesn't make a lot of sense, it is pointless to try to apply too much logic to its vocabulary! --mordicai. 12:39, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

NYC meetup change of schedule
You've expressed an interest in the upcoming New York City Meetup for Saturday, November 3. I'd like to update you on an important change of schedule.
- It's been agreed that we should have a 2-hour formal meeting period to start organizing meta:Wikimedia New York City, and this will be held at the Pacific Library (note this is different from the Brooklyn Central Library, which was discussed earlier) from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
This will be in addition to the previously scheduled roving activities at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (this activity has also been cut short a bit) and at the Brooklyn Museum. For full details, see Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC. Ask any questions at Wikipedia talk:Meetup/NYC. Thank you.--Pharos 21:12, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 4dventure, because another editor is suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ex Machina TPB v1.jpeg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ex Machina TPB v1.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:45, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
