Whickham
[edit]While you feel it shoud be a town, this is not justification to change to the description. You need to find a reliable source that refers to it as a town. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 14:43, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- So where is the source to say it should be called a town? There is no actual definition for either words, but usually a village is <3000 population while a town is usually 1000+ (and of course not a city) MopBanana (talk) 14:47, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Cities are different, they have a formal charter. Personally, I would describe Whickham as a suburb. The locals still refer to it as a village. I can't find a reference to it as a town. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 14:59, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- The locals only refer to the front street (and a small surrounding area) as the village. But yeah I agree with your point of calling it a suburb, maybe the page should be edited as such? MopBanana (talk) 15:02, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

- Of course if evidence can be shown for either name it should be edited as such, but since (to my knowledge) there is no such evidence, logic and rough definitions should be employed to deduce that a settlement with 13,000 people and the largest sixth form in Gateshead borough is certainly a town MopBanana (talk) 14:51, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Regretably simple logic des not apply; there are some very large villages and some fairly small towns around. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 15:00, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
