Image copyright problem with Image:1871 Campbell.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:1871 Campbell.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 21:53, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Western Oregon University
[edit]The text you added to Western Oregon University violates copyright law. It is a copy of information in http://www.wou.edu/provost/registrar/catalog/western_oregon_current_catalog.pdf. You can see for yourself that the bottom of most pages on this website say "© 2002-07 Western Oregon University". —EncMstr 23:24, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. You may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did to Western Oregon University, makes it harder to read. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. You might also read what wikipedia is not. —EncMstr 18:29, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
It's not very good Wikiquette to remove existing content from an article without explanation and replace it with your own. Please also note, as mentioned above, that Wikipedia is not a place to promote WOU or provide how-to information about how to get into the school. It is an encyclopedia. If you are associated with the school's admissions or financial aid office, or in any other capacity, I'd suggest you check out our conflict-of-interest guidelines and our business FAQ. Communicating with other members of the Wikipedia community and following our guidelines will help you in the long run. Below are a few more suggestions. Thanks. Katr67 18:54, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Edit summaries
[edit]Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. Thanks, this helps quite a bit over see this page or that page with a bunch of theory - put left hand on red. I do ok with basic web formatting and graphics, so I probably jumped a little quickly before learning some of the other "cultural" aspects and basic styles. It is also very hard on a newcomer because when you enter Wikipedia the most prominent feature is the edit link everywhere. I am in the process of footnoting the information on the history submission and will be working on filling out and footnoting other apsects of this page as match the templates and other university pages I been directed towards. Show preview
[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thanks again. Katr67 18:54, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
