1946 Turin Grand Prix
[edit]Hi, many thanks for your contributions to the 1946 Turin Grand Prix article. If you know of period sources on the race outside of La Stampa, please let me know, I would be interested. SunflowerYuri (talk) 20:44, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've been scouring things and found an archive for Motor Sport magazine which references the race, although atm I'm trying to find a race classification. I looked back in the history of the wikipedia article and the race classification has been there since 2007 with no source and I'm a bit confused by some of the names that appear there. Personally, I'm inclined to trust La Stampa more since they're essentially a primary source, having been there in person at the time, although their following issue that talks about the race itself only lists the top 6 finishers. - Okay, I see no reason to doubt the race results because apart from very small details they're the same as the ones reported by StatsF1 and Motorsport Magasine's website which are reliable sources(although Motorsport's qualifying results are very different to La Stampa, but the lack of laptimes makes me think it may be placeholder data they forgot to edit or remove). I'm more interested in confirming what happened between Wimille and Varzi that day. I know there's a paywalled period article on the race in Le Monde's archives, maybe I'll sign up for it at some point. SunflowerYuri (talk) 21:46, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you. I had no idea L'Equipe's archives were available online for free. SunflowerYuri (talk) 16:13, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

- It's an interesting article, thanks, but it's another proof that Trintignant's story was greatly embellished, the truth is that it was a common team order affair, with none of the over the top antics Trintignant described. SunflowerYuri (talk) 20:06, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
