Welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Cindy and I serve the Wikipedia community as an Online Ambassador and one of the Steering Committee members that oversees the development and expansion of the program. I am also a long-time resident of Spokane, although I am currently in the Tri-Cities. While reviewing the course page, I noticed that the Feminist Thought course lacked an Online Ambassador, so I have signed on to offer assistance, as needed. Once your students have signed on to the course page, I will offer a welcome message. Once they indicate the articles they wish to develop, I will post a notice on the article's discussion page to notify the community. As a note, I have edited your course page, replacing the participation in the Public Policy Initiative with the United States Education Program. The Public Policy Initiative was discontinued with the expansion of the United States and Global Education Programs. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me anytime. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy)04:44, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Cindy - Hi! Thanks for picking this up. You've just joined one of our more exceptional "pods" in our USEP (United State Education Program). With you as an OA, it's now offcially beyond outstanding. Transcendent perhaps? In any case, it's great to see you here. I'll be communicating with you about another matter, in another context...Tom Cloyd (talk)00:07, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Laura, Adrian, and Zoe - Cindy is quite a catch for you. Most USEP classes could use one or more Wikipedia Online Ambassadors (WOL), and they typically come on board by volunteering themselves (because they see the class listed but with no attached online ambassadors, and can take on another class. Cindy is no doubt intrigued because you're all in the same region, as she points out. WOL's work to extend the influence of a class' CAs, and to be available when CAs cannot be. Adrian and Zoe, since you're very much in learning mode this term, I suggest you study up a bit on Online Ambassadors, and stay in touch with Cindy, so your activities complement each other.
And again, I'm really tickled to see the formation of this pod - a most fortuitous one I'd say. Do contact me again if I can help in any way. Tom Cloyd (talk)00:13, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Cindy, thank you very much for your assistance! As a beginner campus ambassador, I have been impressed--floored, really--by the eagerness of Wikipedians to give their time and considerable expertise to others. Thank you for the clarification about the Public Policy Initiative. And how fabulous that we're all in Spokane!
Tom, thank you for your continued guidance!
Laura, see you tomorrow for class! Just a mini-demo on how to add article and user info to the following sections of the course page (so that Cindy can post her welcome message to the students!):
