Bombieri-Vinogradov theorem

[edit]

Since you are an admin, could you do me a favour and move Bombieri-Vinogradov's theorem to Bombieri-Vinogradov theorem, then delete the former page and redirect Bombieri's theorem to Bombieri-Vinogradov theorem? Mon4 15:35, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done, except that I moved it to Bombieri–Vinogradov theorem with an en dash instead of a hyphen (in TeX, an en dash is denoted -- and a hyphen with - ). This is quite pedantic, but recommended in Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dashes).
By the way, also a warm welcome from me. Oh, I have a question which you might be able to answer, seeing the kind of pages you edit. Have you ever heard of variational number theory? Does it exist, do you know of references, does the description on that page make sense? I am concerned whether this article is suitable to be included in Wikipedia. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 01:05, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

deleting a section from an article

[edit]

You may think you only deleted a section from Dirichlet series and made no other changes, but when you edit only a section, and delete the whole thing, then you introduce extra blank space between sections, which should then get removed (I've done that now). References

[edit]

Hello. I saw you created articles on Gauss sums and Kummer sums. I have a couple of requests relating to these articles. Firstly, I'd greatly appreciate it if you started including references in your articles; see Wikipedia:Cite your sources. In my opinion, references are very helpful to the reader who wants to check something or simply learn a bit more.

Secondly, are you sure that the sums described in Gauss sum are in fact different from the ones in Gaussian period? Your article is about sums of the form

while Gaussian period#Gauss sums is about sums of the form

These sums seem to be strongly related, if not identical. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 08:18, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, something doesn't seem to be quite right. Mon4 21:46, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're free to nominate the article for deletion, of course, but regrettably the article doesn't seem to qualify for any of the speedy deletion criteria. If you wish to see this article deleted, please use the proposed deletion or, failing that, articles for deletion. I usually tag articles that have been mistakenly tagged with {{delete}} with {{prod}}, but I was particularly awful at math in school and you didn't provide a reason. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 22:15, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mon4, next time you use proposed deletion, please follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Proposed deletion. In particular, do not use {{prod}} but use {{subst:prod|reason}} . The process does not work properly if you do not subst the template. I fixed this at Herkommer number for you. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 05:19, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Christopher Hooley, by 212.100.3.56 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Christopher Hooley provides no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Christopher Hooley, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Christopher Hooley itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 11:04, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Mon4! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 4 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Heini Halberstam - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Wolfgang M. Schmidt - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
