Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Blythe Masters has been reverted.
Your edit here to Blythe Masters was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://blythemasters.blogspot.com) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. John, you're right that the page lacks any mention of the Bengal famine. There is some work by Amartya Sen and the recent book by Shashi Tharoor. Are there are other sources you're aware of? Molochmeditates (talk) 20:33, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of general sanctions on cryptocurrencies and blockchain

[edit]
Please read this notification carefully, it contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Quick note

[edit]

On your userpage you wrote I am interested to discuss how Wikipedia should become a neutral and authoritative source on cryptocurrency topics. I find many articles to be either too promotional/overpromising or too short/narrow. I also find it hard to collect good references (and generally seems even trusted sources of news get things wrong with respect to cryptocurrency. That might just get better over time)

Really briefly - WP is vulnerable to online groups that come here and basically hijack pages to promote their group or project. This sort of activity, on the borderline between fandom (what we call WP:ADVOCACY) and actual conflict of interest (see WP:COI) has been a problem for a long time. Generally these people use bad sourcing (blogs, their project's website or forums) or no sourcing at all. As you can imagine, many pages about open source software projects are subject to this stuff.

With the rise of cryptocurrencies, that problem became exacerbated by direct financial conflict of interest and all the hype and financial speculation. In response, the community: a) added "holding a cryptocurrency" to the COI guideline linked above and later b) put the general sanctions in place, of which I have given you notice above.

Content in WP should be driven by high quality, independent sourcing, summarized neutrally, aimed to help people learn (not buy, or buy in). If you like, please see user:Jytdog/How which I wrote to help people get oriented to the mission of the WP editing community, how we work to realize it, and why we do things as we do.

Another important thing here is discussed in WP:SUSTAINED, which is part of the notability guideline. Because WP relies on independent, secondary sources, it is always going to be a "lagging indidicator" -- we don't do "cutting edge" because there are generally not great sources (high quality, independent, secondary) for us to summarize.

Some academics are starting to come out with secondary sources scoping out the crypto industry (some are awful, some are good) and sources like this will allow us to start developing better content in this topic. But there is a ton of work to do just driving out the badly sourced promotional junk, which pours in here relentlessly as online groups try to abuse the visibility of WP to promote their coins or platforms...

Happy to discuss but that is the situation, as I see it anyway....Jytdog (talk) 17:25, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:20, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Jay Moloney has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I don't see a claim of notability in the article, and I doubt there is one in reality. Possibly merge into Creative Artists Agency?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 00:09, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Did you get a chance to look through the sources listed here and explain why you think there's a claim of notability? As someone who headed CAA for a while until his death, along with numerous other instances of notability listed in the article, the person seems quite notable to me. Can you explain your concern in more detail? Is there a deletion discussion we can use to have this conversation? I don't see it listed here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2019_December_10 --Molochmeditates (talk) 19:59, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Elongate article

[edit]

Hello User:Molochmeditates, I'm reaching out because you're listed as a contributor to the Cryptocurrency WikiProject. I am trying to get a draft published in the Cryptocurrency domain, but it's a bit difficult as the reviewers seem to have an opposition to the topic of crypto as a whole. Meanwhile there are other topics published with significantly less notability. As you are knowledgeable on the subject, could you please look at the draft and let me know if you can assist? Thank you! https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Elongate_(cryptocurrency)

Hi Molochmeditates,

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

The edit summary of Special:Diff/1121791128 seems to misrepresent WP:ONUS.

Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:24, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Context matters. If a person is one of the largest political donors, that is relevant information in the BLP lead. This is not disputed content for WP:ONUS. If we start writing biographies by trying to achieve consensus on every single piece of content that is included, well I don't know what to tell you. --Molochmeditates (talk) 04:43, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for all your work lately. I recently created a draft for John J. Ray III. Any help would be approached! Best, Thriley (talk) 05:11, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, appreciate the kind words! I'll look for more reliable sources and expand the article. Seems like an important figure, and we should be able to provide a good biography there. --Molochmeditates (talk) 05:13, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I also started a draft for Ryan Salame. Thriley (talk) 03:08, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Have you considered nominating either Caroline Ellison or Sam Trabucco to Did You Know? Articles must be made in the last seven days and contain at least 1,500 characters. It would be great to see some articles related to the FTX crisis on the front page. Best, Thriley (talk) 05:32, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your suggestion! Let me look into it - I've never done this before. Molochmeditates (talk) 15:45, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Thriley, seems like one of the requirements is that the article be in the GA category: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Did_you_know#DYK_rules
Looking at the criteria, https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Good_article_criteria I think the articles might fail the illustrations and stability sections. What do you think? --Molochmeditates (talk) 19:57, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thankfully articles don’t have to be Good Articles to be featured on DYK. An article archiving Good Article status is just one way it qualifies. As it states on the rules: “DYK is only for articles that have achieved one of the following within the past seven days: Created, Expanded at least fivefold, Promoted to good article status.” Articles just have to be at least 1,500 characters. Generally they should feel somewhat complete, but articles involving on going news stories are featured on DYK all the time. It’s up to you! Just thought I’d make the suggestion as it’s always nice to see other editors get into nominating their newly created articles. Best, Thriley (talk) 21:14, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ah I totally missed the OR for AND. Makes sense, thanks :) Molochmeditates (talk) 21:29, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also, it says seven days, but nominating 8, 9, 10 or even more days after an article is put into main space is usually fine. Thriley (talk) 21:34, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for your help in pointing this out and suggesting the submission. I have submitted the Caroline Ellison article to DYK! I don't know the process from here on out, but fingers crossed. --Molochmeditates (talk) 05:22, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Nice work creating articles about Caroline Ellison and associates. 329,009 pageviews in one week. Wikipedia readers will benefit. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 11:50, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Be more careful

[edit]

Hi. I just corrected an error on China Daily which you immediately changed without verifying the information. Then you, or someone else, falsely reported disruptive editing.

Be more careful, please, before you reedit factual and sourced information, and there after falsely report disruption. With this lack of care, the actual disruption is caused. It's simple like that.

Thank you. 27.34.13.187 (talk) 03:38, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your "information" is unsourced. You changed the direct link to a redirect link without explanation. You should start by reading the links posted on your talk page (for a different IP address I believe) before you start making changes to Wikipedia. You can also start a discussion on the article's talk page if you disagree with the linked article.
There is no "reporting" here. An administrator might ban your IP/account if you continue to edit disruptively. The message on your talk page is to inform you of your actions and how you might correct it, if you choose to contribute constructively.
Good luck! --Molochmeditates (talk) 03:42, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Editing at Vivek Ramaswamy

[edit]

Information icon You have recently made edits related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people. This is a standard message to inform you that post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people is a designated contentious topic. This message does not imply that there are any issues with your editing. For more information about the contentious topics system, please see Wikipedia:Contentious topics.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Vivek Ramaswamy. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 09:18, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notability vs. verifiability

[edit]

Thank you for your edit at Chandrayaan-3, where you said in your edit summary:

Adding secondary sources for the claim, which note why this is notable and thus should belong in the encyclopedia article.

I just wanted to let you know, that this is a misunderstanding of WP:Notability, which applies *only* to the topic of an article, and not to its content. The content of an article has to be verifiable, but it does not have to be notable. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 09:20, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
