Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Mohammad alsalamat. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Diffusion equation, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Based on edits you made I suggest you review Wikipedia policies regarding conflict of interest and the use of multiple accounts (Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry) Johnjbarton (talk) 02:31, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mohammad!
First, thank you for your addition to Diffusion equation! I hope that the above warning does not scare you off from making other contributions to Wikipedia. The added content is clear and well-written, it is fine. It is exactly the kind of content that is desirable on Wikipedia. The problem, however, is with the citation given for it: it points at an article that you wrote, for a pharma website. The issue is that such citations are considered to be promotional commercial spam, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. The content is great, the reference, not so much. Ideally, the reference would be replaced by pointers to textbooks. I'm sorry that this is such a harsh introduction to Wikipedia editing; its just that promotional spam is a constant and recurring problem, and so there is a tendency to shoot first and ask questions later. Again, sorry that your initial contact was so harsh; I'm trying to write a kinder and gentler welcome, here. 67.198.37.16 (talk) 19:38, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
