Welcome!

Hello, Miss BC Coast, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  --Rob 19:31, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

another tip

[edit]

When you are on a talk page, just click the "+" tab at the top, if you want to add a comment. That will let you leave a message, to appear at the bottom of the page. Sometimes, people don't notice if you add a message at the top (where they are not looking). No biggie. --Rob 19:38, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Miss BC Coast

[edit]

I've proposed Miss BC Coast for deletion. If you disagree with me, feel free to remove the deletion template, and I will list it AfD. Computerjoe's talk 09:15, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About the image on your user page.

[edit]

Hi, I'm really sorry, but according to our policy (see WP:FAIR) you are not permitted to have "fairuse" images on your user page. So, you need to remove Image:Sasha Abunnadi.jpg from your user page. If you want to add an image to your user page, you'll need to find (or make) one that the copyright holder (normally the photographer) has donated to the public domain, or released on a "free license" like the GNU Free Documentation License. --Rob 23:00, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Legally speaking, there is probably no difference between your user page, and the article. They have essentially the same content, and same image usage. However, Wikipedia has an absolute policy, against fairuse in user space, so that it doesn't have to spend resources managing them. Fairuse images are a signficant problem for the project, due to widespread misuse. So, to make things easier, Wikipedia has decided to simply ban all uses of them, except where they are essential to illilstrate an encyclopedic article. About the only exception to this (which is entirely unofficial), is you can make a *temporary* (draft) version of an article on your user page (with pics) and then move to "article space" after its ready. --Rob 06:13, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for removing the image. I appreciate it. --Rob 06:18, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know the names of regional pageants for Miss World Canada. Perhaps, if you do, they could be added as a list to the article, which would give the link back to Miss BC Coast, which is what's asked for in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miss BC Coast. We do something like this in Miss USA and Miss America, so we should really do it in Miss World Canada. --Rob 06:25, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Can I just thank the positive view you took on the AfD. By nominating it, it was nothing personal and I would like to thank your contributions and ask you to contribute more throughout the Wikipedia. Computerjoe's talk 19:30, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Friendly Tip

[edit]

I suggest you use ~~~~ to timestamp your message. You can change your signature which this created in Special:Preferences. It also timestamps it! Computerjoe's talk 19:58, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a little confused on this, so thanks for fixing my mistake (in calling people "Miss BC Coast" when they're not). Perhaps the Miss BC Coast shouldn't list "BC Representatives at Miss World Canada", as this may cause others confusion. At a minimum there should be a clearer explanation of the situation in that section. --Rob 20:55, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Palestine.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Palestine.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:07, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

FYI, we already have an image of the Palestinian flag: Image:Flag of Palestine.svg. Since yours is redundant and of lower quality, it will be deleted. Thanks anyway. howcheng {chat} 22:26, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Mwc04.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mwc04.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:
