Sorry, I reverted the detail about German Swiss for Paul Klee. The introduction is a short standard, details go later. Perhaps try that. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:14, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What can I do to contribute occasionnally in English

[edit]

Hello, Gerda Arendt,

I'm a French speaking woman and I've contributed to Wikipedia in my language since 2010. It happens sometimes that I'm in a hurry and forget the --Faridagadri (talk) 13:33, 2 March 2019 (UTC). I'm sorry for that. I'm Swiss and live in the German speaking part of Switzerland, that is why I'm interested in Paul Klee. I've made a little lecture about him once, followed by a debate about the Swiss citizenship. That is why I've some knowledge about him. I'm particularly interested in classical music, art and of course Switzerland. In Wikipedia English, I just want to contribute a little bit when I see something in relation to this topics.[reply]

Now, I've a knowledge about Paul Klee. What shall I do to share it. Is it a problem if my sources are not in English? Thank you for your welcome and I hope to read you soon! --Faridagadri (talk) 13:33, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for getting back. I was possibly to brief above, sorry. Sources may be in any language, online or offline, but need to be there. Also, this detail should not occupy the introduction (lead) before a reader even gets to know that he is a painter. You could add it, with a source (formatted as other sources in the article, - just compare), in the section about his birth and life. I live in Germany. Nice to meet you, happy editing! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:57, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your answer. I'll follow your advice. Now we've the following: On the Paul Klee page, it is writen that he is "Swiss German". If I translate in the four national languages of Switzerland, it means "He is a Swiss citizen of Germanic culture." Unfortunately, he wasn't. That is why I suggest that I cancell the word "Swiss" in the introduction. Then I can put my reference in the section about his birth and life. --Faridagadri (talk) 11:13, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you add your full referenced facts to birth and life, and then ask on the talk page how to summarize in the lead. I am the last person to ask about nationality matters, - a sadly missed friend used to quote "the only real nation is humanity. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:38, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Good suggestion. I've noted it and will do so when I've some more time. Your friend was right, unfortunately the Berner and Swiss authorities are very complicated about according city, cantonal and federal nationality (yes, there are three levels). --Faridagadri (talk) 13:02, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
