I've fixed the problem on the Kingdom of Hejaz article. You had added a bit at the end of the infobox and removed the closing }} braces resulting in a mess. Wikimarkup can be frustrating sometimes, keep at it and you will learn the ropes. I see that you were trying to add a bit regarding the northern part of Hejaz now being a part of southern Jordan. That is correct, but probably best mentioned as a note at the end of the article. It is obvious from comparing maps, but would perhaps require a reference if someone were to question it. Vsmith (talk) 13:23, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Geography of Jordan#Boundaries mentions a 1965 agreement which transferred some of the territory from Saudi Arabia to Jordan, but doesn't provide a reference. Vsmith (talk) 13:34, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
I've submitted my first article, titled "Bartholomew Versus the Wheel". (1964 Looney Tunes cartoon)
[edit]Hi everyone at Wikipedia. My names is Milesjolly1997 and I set up an account here at Wikipedia about a week ago, although I have been acquainted with this site for a few years now, during which time I have edited some information in some articles but never created an article of my own. I love what Wikipedia is about, sharing information all over the world, completely free of charge, and editable by anyone. I am writing to let you all know that I have submitted my first article to this site, which i have called "Bartholomew Versus the Wheel". The article concerns the 1964 Merrie Melodies cartoon directed by Robert McKimson. I would love to hear any comments on my article as I am a new user and definitely need advice with editing and writing. I don't know all the ropes of Wikipedia yet so would appreciate it if someone could give me some feedback on my article and add any improvements they feel may be necessary. I know my work so far is a long way from perfect but with cooperation it can be brought up to a good enough standard to be published. I am passionate about cartoons and own a copy of the book Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies: A Complete Illustrated Guide to the Warner Bros. Cartoons by Jerry Beck and Will Friedwald. The book was my sole source during the creation of the article I have been working on. Hopefully you have received the article, I think I sent it to you, and I don't think there's anything more to say except thank you for reading my message and my article and thank you for the guidance and advice I will hopefully receive from you. Yours faithfully Milesjolly1997 :-)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Milesjolly1997 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 331dot (talk) 11:32, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Miles,
Sorry nobody got back to you about your messages, ages ago. It's more common to leave messages on others' talk pages--people would have to stumble into your own. Have you seen the Wikipedia:Teahouse yet? It's a great place to discuss with others. As I think you learned from your first article, references are *really* important in Wikipedia. Also, if you're interested in cartoons, you can find other people to talk to about articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Animation. Hope that helps and if you have other questions, feel free to leave a message on my Talk page! Jodi.a.schneider (talk) 00:26, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]Hello, I'm Everymorning. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Paul Joseph Watson, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. Religion in infoboxes
[edit]Hello, Milesjolly! I notice that you have been adding the person's religion to the infobox of hundreds of biographies. Please stop! There is a consensus at Wikipedia that we do not put a person's religion in their infobox unless it is an important part of their notability. This applies in particular to politicians, but applies to celebrities in general. I suspect someone is going to have to follow your edits around and remove all those additions of religion. I know you are doing this in good faith and in a sincere attempt to improve the encyclopedia. Thank you for that. But in this case: there is a REASON why "religion" is blank in most infoboxes; it is based on a consensus decision by the Wikipedia community. I will try to get more information and links to explain this better, but in the meantime, please don't add a religion to any more infoboxes. Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 14:10, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- P.S. Here is the discussion where it was decided not to put a person's religion in the infobox (unless it is an important part of their reason for notability): [1] --MelanieN (talk) 15:24, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Citation for dates?
[edit]In a recent edit, you added specific dates for the beginning and end of Bob Kerry's term as governor of Nebraska. I've reverted, since there was no citation, and since an earlier edit changed one of the dates, suggesting that they're in dispute and need a reliable source. I tried to find the dates myself, but was unable to find an online source for them. If you've got such a source, could you provide a citation? Thanks. Ammodramus (talk) 17:47, 27 December 2017 (UTC)

I might leave soon
[edit]Is it just me, or are people a bit petty here? It seems to me that anytime I make an edit, someone complains about it. Apparently me adding stuff without referencing it is “disruptive”. Well excuse me for trying to help with the project. Maybe I’ll pack it in and go and do other stuff.
I’ve got a busy life and I don’t have to do this. I do actually really enjoy Wikipedia and love the idea of an Encyclopaedia that’s free for everyone, but the power trip people put me off and make me wonder if it’s worth putting in the effort anymore. I know it’s not everyone, there are plenty of nice people working hard on this site and I respect and appreciate them and what they do because it’s important work. But I’ve never liked bossy people, my temptation is always to give them the middle finger. Maybe I’m a bit immature. But this is just how I feel about it. I’ve had an account on this site for nearly 7 1/2 years now and I’ve never been one of the top editing people, but that’s not what I wanted anyway. I’m happy being a “wiki gnome” in the background, making little edits here and there where I think they’re helpful. Mainly rewording stuff so it’s more grammatically correct, or correcting typos. I’ve only created one article here and I had a lot of help with it.
I don’t really know how to end this. All I’ll say is that Wikipedia is a great idea and project and I’m proud to have played my little part in it but maybe my time here is over. Thanks for the good times I guess. Milesjolly1997 (talk) 19:01, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Your edits to add short descriptions are breaking redirects
[edit]The {{Short description}} template is useful for some articles, but rarely for redirects, which contain no article content. Please do not add {{short description}} to redirect pages, as you did here at Milovan Đilas, here at Edward John Thye, and here at Daniel Arap Moi. Other editors have undone the short descriptions you added to redirects in August and November, and I undid the one you added today. Please do not add any more of them. If you have questions about this, please see Wikipedia:Short description for details, which also describes the rare cases where they may be appropriate on a redirect page, but even then, never at the top of the page, as that breaks the redirect. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 20:57, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
