[edit]

Thanks for adding that information. I attend Plattsburgh and I'm guessing you do too.

Thanks again. --waffle iron 19:47, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Milchima, I am sure you meant well, but your edits to various Burger Ranch related articles infringed many of our rules as well as the rights of our contributors. Please study our guidelines somewhat better before making drastic changes like these. You are also welcome to ask me or any longtime contributor for assistance. Regards, gidonb 18:53, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

From the Afd: Wonderful, I've not been able to find decent sources to puzzle this out. Can you add sources to the article, and expand a little? At the least, add the sources to the talk page so they are available for others? KillerChihuahua?!? 22:23, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please use edit summaries

[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Doniac Schvice has been proposed for deletion. Please see Talk:Doniac Schvice for details. NickelShoe 00:46, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

After that reversion, I wasn't even sure I had done it right. Your response indicates that I did. Sehr gut. If this website would prevent a-nones from making changes, it would save hundreds and hundreds of wasted hours every day. Registered users sometimes vandalize, but they are far less likely to do so than a-nones are, in my experience. Registered users are more likely to get into Edit Jihads, but at least they can be "reached" and/or dealt with. Wahkeenah 23:42, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's hard to fight the vandals. But if they're actually breaking ground on the new Yankee Stadium tomorrow, then "it's no longer an issue, it's a fact" and vandalism at this point is just sour grapes. Wahkeenah 20:30, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please use edit summaries

[edit]
Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary. Thanks, and happy editing.

AuburnPilotTalk 01:30, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can see a list of your contributions by clicking "my contributions" at the top of the page. You'll see a list of your edits, as well as which ones do and do not have summaries. You said you "tend to only use the summary field for drastic changes" but it is just as important, if not more important, to use edit summaries when making small changes. These can be hard to find/see and an edit summary helps greatly. Happy Editing! AuburnPilotTalk 15:47, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why you want me to list the articles, but here you go: Independent Television News, WFFF-TV, WCWF, Talk:Starbucks, Fox News Channel, Madison Square Garden, Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Michael Kay, OLN, ABC Family, UPN, Al Leiter, Barenaked in America, WB (disambiguation), CBS Radio, New York Titans (NLL), John Sterling (sportscaster), ITN ON, NFL Network, KeySpan Park, WFAN, Mike and the Mad Dog, ITV (Apple product), XM Satellite Radio, Toronto Phantoms. These are from the last 50 edits. My original message was not a warning of any kind, just a "tip", if you want to call it that, about a Wikipedia Guideline. AuburnPilotTalk 18:29, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trey band

[edit]

Actually, nothing has ever been named "Trey Anastasio Band." It's nowhere on any CD, and it's never been on a ticket. There is no name for this band, and there was no name for the old band. He called last year's band 70 VP in an interview and on his website. EVen today, just like in 99-04, in his news updates, etc, it says "TREY AND HIS BAND." Since this band has no name, it definitely belongs as Trey Anastasio (band)

License tagging for Image:MSG pre 96.GIF

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MSG pre 96.GIF. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

CitiField is the official name

[edit]

Hi, I see you reverted the redirects around New Mets Ballpark and CitiField over allegations that the name had not been officially anounced. The AP has reported the deal is official http://www.the-dispatch.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061111/APS/611112945&cachetime=5. And FYI, if {{prod}} is removed from an article, it's sent to AFD. semper fiMoe 18:01, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that sending out a request to many editors asking them to participate in an AfD is a really bad idea. It's usually considered internal spamming and seriously frowned on. You wouldn't want folks frowning at you, would you? However, an Anon editor began deleting your requests...and that goes beyond a bad idea; it's not acceptable at all. I've reverted the posts that he deleted, and dropped in here to offer my (admittedly unsolicited) thoughts. Good luck and happy editing. --Doc Tropics Message in a bottle 05:41, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed you moved this article to Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny. I believe this is wrong because the album lacks the word "in" in the title, which implies that it isn't just the soundtrack to the movie, but it's also Tenacious D's second album. MusicBrainz and iTunes both have the album listed as "The Pick of Destiny", which further backs up my opinion that the album was named correctly to begin with.

Baseball Channel

[edit]

Why are you considering Baseball Channel for deletion. This is an article worth keeping, because it is going to be part of the DireTV MLB television deal. I don't see any reason why it should be deleted.--Choptalk4165 01:05, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball Channel

[edit]

Yes, but it is still a fact that they are working to develop a baseball channel even without the DirecTV deal. All of the owners approved it in late 2004 and they had just been holding it off to get all of the television deals out of the way. So even with out DirecTV, they are still planning to launch one, DirecTV would just be a launching pad for it to get subcribtions to the channel. I still don't see any reason why this page should be deleted.--Choptalk4165 23:21, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Transwiki of Hizzoner

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Hizzoner, by Dennisthe2 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Hizzoner is an article that has been discussed at Articles for Deletion (or Miscellany for deletion), where the outcome was to transwiki, and where the transwikification has been properly performed and the author information recorded (CSD A5).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Hizzoner, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. File source problem with File:Thorne.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Thorne.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:00, 13 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 18:00, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

User:Milchama/Thorne Deletion

[edit]

A tag has been placed on User:Milchama/Thorne requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you can assert the notability of the subject, contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and give your reasons on [[Talk:User:Milchama/Thorne|the article's talk page]], but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

See the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Glazed Terracotta (talk) 23:12, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Glazed Terracotta[reply]

The article The Music Never Stopped has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence of notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.   2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

It helps to explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the Help Desk. Thanks again for contributing! Mattg82 (talk) 00:42, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

AfD and PROD notifications

[edit]

Hi Milchama,

Back in December, you got either an AfD or PROD notification, which was part of the template testing project's experiments. If you could go here and leave us some feedback about what you think about the new versions of the templates we tested (there are links to the templates), that would be very useful. (You can also email me at mpinchuk@wikimedia.org if you want.) Thanks! Maryana (WMF) (talk) 18:37, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Peter Griesar for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Peter Griesar is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Peter Griesar until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Guy (Help!) 21:05, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Peter Shapiro (concert promoter) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. The article Peter Shapiro (concert promoter) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Capitol Theater (Port Chester, New York), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Peter Shapiro (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Peter Shapiro (concert promoter) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Cabe6403 (TalkSign) 08:45, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
