Hello,

You contacted me on Swedish Wikipedia about an interview with Åse Kleveland that you are setting up for Wikipedia/Wikinews. So kind of Stefan to mention me. These are some questions that you could ask her:

• You used to be Managing Director of the Swedish Film institute. What do you feel were the most challenging aspects of that job?
• At the SFI, what kind of initiatives did you start? Which projects are you particularly proud of?
• Some critics have claimed [weasel terms here, but I think that she knows what I am talking about] that the SFI have funded too many projects made by already established directors and producers, instead of trying to find new talents. Do you think that is a valid description? If so, what can be done about it?
• During the 2005 Guldbagge awards, there was a big controversy. It turned out that the jury hadn't seen all the 33 films and thus only nominated three films for the awards. What are your recollections of these events? What happened internally at the Film institute afterwards?
• Which of the Guldbagge winners for best film during your years as Managing Director did you like best?

I'm never Giving Up

Hi there. Didn't realise these songs didn't have articles - although I think the groups do - which virtually amounts to the same thing! "Making your Mind Up" certrainly does, cause I contributed quite heavily to it. I absolutely hated "Runner In The Night", but I think "I'm Never Giving Up" is one of the best entries ever - along with the 81,82 and 84 entries. I'll have to have a look at the Sweet Dreams page to see if it needs anything added (I know that the follow-up was called "17 Electric"). Maybe a picture of the single sleeve could be added - pictures of records seem to be more acceptable than pictures of thre actual artists it seems.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 07:55, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Had a quick look at some of the surrounding pages and the artist pages. Certainly work needed on some of them - and references. Perhaps we need to get some continuity boxes in there, I'm surprised they don't already have them. Not much time at the moment, but I might be able to get an hour or two in a couple of days. Thanks for pointing them out. By the way, Belle and the Devotions follow-up single was called "All The Way Up".

Added in bits and pieces to a couple of entries. I'll have a look at the other pages later. Also put in succession boxes to each of the Eurovision artists.

Hi again. Unfortunately, all my images have been tagged-so it seems the two that I put are to be removed. To be honest, I've better things to do with my time than try and put a fair use rationale on each of them, so I'm just going to let them go and not bother uploading any more pictures. I wish some of these people would get a life and be more constructive than just spoiling everyones pages. The guy in question is User:Sfan00 IMG and from his talk page it seems he's getting up a lot of people noses, but you just have to feel sorry for him. Never mind, doesn't really bother me! Sonia

Hello again. Just quickly had a look at some of your Eurovision songs pages. Quickly threw a picture sleeve of Better the Devil You Know (Sonia song) on there - I see you've put a fair use rationale on the other two I did, so thanks for that. I quite like Sonia, so I might do some work on her page(s) - although I don't know why she's listed as Sonia Evans when she was only ever known as Sonia.But anway, I digress, one quick thing - in your page for her song you say the following: " "the devil you know" (her uncontrollable affection for her boyfriend) instead of "the devil you don't" (his erratic, uncertain behaviour). " - surely the phrase "Better the devil you know" refers to the belief that you're better off sticking with what you know, so "the devil you don't" would perhaps refer to another potential boyfriend? Bardo

I agree and disagree there. There is no doubt that "One Step Further" was far more contemporary than all other Eurovision songs up to that point (probably the reason why it did so well in the charts - ie. it worked as a 'real' song), but I don't think it bears much resemblence to the electronic music popular at the time. The live version of the song however loses much of the effect also, as it's down to the intricate production of the recorded version which gives it its' contemporary feel.

The song was hugely backed by many people (Terry Wogan, the bookmakers), and I remember myself on the day of the contest, having bought the single, thinking how could anything beat such a great song, but was horrified when I heard the mess displayed at the Eurovision itself. The lesson seemed to be learned that contemporary pop songs - and big chart hits - just didn't work when translated to live 'orchestral' productions in the Eurovision. A similar situation occured years later with Gina G, which was also similarly a big chart hit and sure-fire favourite to win on the day.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 12:41, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

• I'm not trying to pick quarrels, I'm really not. But I am trying to pin down the history of the Jewish cumminity in Penaascola, and I am having toruble. I canot, for example, find a reliable source for the construction of the earliest synagogue building. Lots of congregations are organized and pray in some space or other before building a synagogue. And I find it diffucult to believe that a congregation in that era was created de novo in 1876 with a charter anda building. Usually the ceretery was organized first, then a congregation, then (after they get the money to gether) a building.   • I would truly like to know more about the two previous buildings. Do you have photos? Can you post them? I found a reference to a congregational history and added it to the page. Perhaps you have a copy and can use that to straighten out the history. It may well be the oldes synagogue in Florida. "the date we're looking for"? Please be more specific. What date? I am looking for sources. and I assume that there will be a series of dates, cemetery, first record of meeting for prayer, etc. If you want to date the synagogue building, fine. I would love to have a source. But the date a synagogue building is erected must be distinguished from the date at which a congregation if formed. And it should be listed that way. There should certainly be a way to word this amicably, the two congregations are each very old, and each has some well-sourced activities that predate the other. • A special Sunday meeting was held, as there had been some trouble getting everyone to meet on Thursday night. Thursday meetings will commence again on October 9.
• Mikael Lindmark is withdrawing from the bid, new member Oskar Sigvardsson is taking his place.
• Tasks were discussed again, with each person's tasks being clearly outlined. A timeline was set, in which a certain percentage of each task should be finished by the next meeting (October 9). The first tasks should be finished by the beginning of November in most cases. People finishing their tasks early will be assigned to new tasks.
• A vote was held on the question of conference location: Fluff, Bjelleklang, Mike_H, Laaknor, JHS, OskarS, CarinaT and Henrik voted yes to Stockholm University. Nobody opposed, with Patricia and Wegge being absent at the time of the meeting. Other options discussed before the vote were the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholmsmässan, and Globen.
• Mike_H was elected as a temporary bid committee chair, with nobody opposing.
• The question of guest speakers on the conference was raised; Mike asked everyone to come up with suggestions for October 9, which will be the next meeting.
• Carina brought up a proposal first posted to the mailing list by Sir48. Before Wikimania, it is proposed to organize meetups in Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Reykjavik of the local Wikipedians, and then from there everyone can travel together to Stockholm for the conference. The Norwegians, Danes and Finns in attendance agreed it was a very good idea. Carina suggested that this be written into the bid, and Mike volunteered to put it in. The bid team will also be talking to the Icelandic contingent in the coming weeks and asking for their input with this idea.

Impressive article. Not one of my favorite songs, but I'm surprised that you managed to write such a long piece on it. Good stuff. I've just completed a new article, which I've brought to the attention of the Eurovision project: List of the top ranking countries of the Eurovision Song Contest. Re:Translation

I don't think I'd be much help as the Irish I have is extemely school based (due to learning Irish in the great capital where Irish is not spoken on a daily basis outside of the classroom) as in much of my Irish is either learned off phrases (like everyday consersation or random notes about selected poems, stories, dramas or debates learned off for great exams like the Leaving Cert which are never used again after that) or (extremely) basic sentences (for example: Is maith liom milseán - which means I like sweets :D). And my Irish teachers can back me up on that. Honestly, I don't think I would be able to translate the article as my Irish grammar skills are so atrocious that it's almost laughable hence why I never bothered to edit the Irish Wikipedia as the edits would cause more harm than good (I wouldn't be surprised if my edits would be considered vandalism or the would at least be reverted for being somewhat nonsensical). I know there are a few editors that work both on this Wikipedia and the Irish one (I think User:Alison is one of them) who would have the Irish to be able to translate articles a hell of a lot better than I ever could. Re. Translation

Hello Mike. "Oi! Como vai você?" is Brazilian Portuguese. :-) In the Portuguese I speak we'd say "Olá! Como estás?" instead. ;-) Anyway, I am very busy indeed and wouldn't be able to sign up for any translation at the moment. But even if I were available, I would not do it on the Portuguese Wikipedia, as I don't edit it. Actually I boycott that Wikipedia. I have started a Wikipedia:Request for comment on this topic at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#RfC on ESCKaz reliability. This discussion originates from questions on the reliability of the ESCKaz website and if it should be used in Eurovision articles on Wikipedia. It has now being extended to fully review all sources used in articles covered by WikiProject Eurovision, including ESCToday and Oikotimes. This is a very important issue to the project as sourcing is a key part of articles, and consensus needs to be reached on which sources should be used when, where and how. This discussion however has so far lacked a wide range of editor participation, and as you have listed yourself as a member of WikiProject Eurovision I invite you to add your thoughts. In particular more input is needed from editors which have a high level of experience with relevant guidelines/policies such as Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability, and who have up until now stayed outside this debate, though all contributions are welcome. I asked User:SoWhy to check my work; when we can't find translations (I'm assuming you couldn't, but I asked SoWhy to check anyway), probably best to have one native English-speaker and one native German-speaker check them, for maximum idiomaticity (that's not a word). I know this is OR but per many conversations at WT:V, we should try for translations (when the article is notable enough to exist as an article even though part is in a foreign language).
