Whitecaps roster template
Just a heads up as I saw you made Template:Minnesota Whitecaps roster, but single-use templates are more recently frowned upon as they needlessly splitting an article and could make it harder for users to contribute. There is an ongoing effort to transclude the section if it happens to be used in more than one location instead. Please read Wikipedia:Not everything needs a template. An example of transcluding a section that could be a template to the second article is the 2021 Kelly Cup playoffs#Playoff bracket transcluded to 2020–21 ECHL season#Bracket. - Thanks for the information, @Yosemiter. I've been making lots of edits to PHF-related pages of late, and I've been following examples from NHL teams. In this particular case, the New York Rangers roster template. It's true that this is (currently) a single-use template. I'm not sure if it'll remain that way. Section-includes look interesting. Today I learned... :D Thanks. --MikeVitale 14:35, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- Coverage of the league is more or less on par with the ECHL, and should probably be treated as such. There tends to be very little WP:INDEPENDENT coverage (The Ice Garden is a mostly a blog) of each team's season, so XXXX-XX PHF team season articles are questionable to meet WP:GNG, unlike NHL team season pages. At best, the team roster template would be use in two places: the team page and a season page (which also not true of the NHL templates). That is the reason the AHL, ECHL, and many other top-end Euro leagues do not use templates. Just use the section transclude and it will make it easier for folks to watch for vandalism (I have a couple thousand on my watchlist, adding more means more vandalism that can slip though without notice) and for newer editors to contribute (they tend to just slap a new name in the section above or below the {{team roster}} because they don't know how to edit it.
