An exciting opportunity to get involved!

Reviewer permission

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:28, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

BLR

Cheers!! Thanks for changing the section current scenario. I guess now it is free from a copy-vio. If you have or know any sources, I would request you to add more info on "connectivity". By the way, I am renaming the "ground transport" to "connectivity" as the airport does have an air-link from various parts of the city and this cannot be considered as ground transport.

I am also renaming the "current scenario and expansion plans" back only to "current scenario" and there will be two sections under this: "expansion plans" and "renaming" (of the airport).

Have a nice day! Regards, Abhishek191288 (talk) 12:23, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Editor trolling you

I have put a short block on 59.92.2.93, but clearly that will not do a lot, as he will be back on another IP. I considered a range block, but it would require a rather large range to be blocked, and the trolling edits to your pages are only a small proportion of all the edits from that range, which makes that an unacceptable method. Would you like semi-protection again? I see no problem at all with semi-protecting your user page for as long as it takes, even permanently. Semi-protection of a talk page is a rather different matter, as it obstructs legitimate users too, so I regard it as a last resort. However, sometimes a last resort is what is needed, and please feel welcome to let me know if you want it. My own talk page is at present semi-protected, and I have an alternative talk page for users who can't access the main one. That is not by any means an ideal solution, but in the case of a persistent troll it can sometimes be useful. One other thing: when it happens again, by all means report to WP:AIV again, but you are also welcome to put a note on my talk page if you like. That way if I am online then I can deal with it quicker than an admin who does not already know the background. Of course, I may not be online, but there is nothing to be lost by trying. Other than that I'm afraid it's just a question of revert and block each time and wait for the person to get bored. JamesBWatson (talk) 17:07, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks James, yes I can understand that there is no permanent solution to this problem, and a range block would affect thousands of other legitimate users. I request you to semi-protect the user page and talk page for some more time, say 15 days, till the anon IP gets bored of it. A second talk page might be useful, but yes, as you said, it doesn't really solve the problem. Thanks again! MikeLynch (talk) 17:23, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Both semi-protected until 17:27, 25 December, so maybe you will get a Christmas present from your friend. JamesBWatson (talk) 17:30, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Thought as much. We have to deal with that user though. This is the fourth or fifth time he's got me removing his copyvio content. - Amog | Talkcontribs 18:21, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, plus he uploaded an image without any description. Looks like a newbie. MikeLynch (talk) 18:23, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
Could be problematic. He refuses to reply on his talkpage. I fear he's only going to come back to re-add the website. - Amog | Talkcontribs 18:31, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
I guess if he does that again, then we report him. MikeLynch (talk) 18:34, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
No, I could have done that the last time he tried this. He's only going to make another account and try again. The lesser of the two evils is to keep reverting him :( - Amog | Talkcontribs 19:19, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, so I guess we keep reverting till he gets bored. MikeLynch (talk) 05:30, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Upset

I am very upset as you have tarnished my image on wikipedia. Anyways I have been unblocked and am happy that I can return to productive edits that I have been doing on airport/airline articles. Hope you understand my situation. Thanks, Abhishek191288 (talk) 06:22, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey I know man, and I'm sorry for that. I merely reported it to the admin, because I found it suspicious, and I never recommended any block. Hope you have no hard feelings. MikeLynch (talk) 06:30, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
I understand that you raised suspicion as the content on the two talk pages were the same. But what really upset me was that even without a warning, I was blocked. Anyways, let's forget about it, and work together in articles that are common interests for both of us. Cheers. Have a good day. Abhishek191288 (talk) 07:03, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Rvce logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 14:54, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Hello MikeLynch, Was it wrong to replace the airport image on Bangalore article as claimed by this user? Abhishek191288 (talk) 04:43, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

I think the one uploaded by you was good. Moreover, it is a featured article, and I don't think he should've changed stuff without discussing first. MikeLynch (talk) 04:54, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Well thanks for that. Even I told him that he should not go about changing without discussing and he instead replies that he is working on the article for the past four years and would report me to the admins if I undid the edit. Abhishek191288 (talk) 05:05, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Hosur1 trying to hit back

Hi, I guess Hosur1 is trying to hit back at both of us for being blocked. He has vandalised my talk page. Please have look at this edit. I guess he posted this since your talk page is semi-protected. Thanks, Abhishek191288 (talk) 15:11, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

This is crazy. I mean, neither you nor me have done/said anything even remotely offending to him. I guess if this continues, then you may have to request semi protection for your page too. I am surprised he had the courtesy to leave a message on your talk page. He directly vandalises my user page always. Anyway, I have reported him to an admin, but it will hardly be useful because the IP address changes frequently. A range block is also not OK because all the IPs starting with 59.xxx.xxx.xxx almost always belong to BSNL 250 Rs. plan customers! It will alienate legitimate editors. Hopefully he will regain his senses.MakingTheMarkTalk 16:47, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Ha ha. I did notice notice your signature on Bangalore's talk page. It is a nice one bro. And coming to this guy, I don't know if admin's will grant a semi-protection of my page by just a single incident. If he does it again, maybe they would. Abhishek191288 (talk) 03:06, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks :) . Yeah, if he does that again, then I guess you can complain. MakingTheMarkTalk 09:36, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Twitter issue

Thanks for welcoming me! Feels good to be here on Wikipedia editing away!

About the twitter issue, I think having twitter links in the "External Links" section is accepted. Besides, on the page you told me to refer to, WP:TWITTER, it says "self-published media, such as books, newsletters, personal websites, open wikis, personal or group blogs, Internet forum postings, and tweets, are largely not acceptable as sources."

I used Deepika Padukone's twitter account not as a source of information, but as information. Don't you think that it is information about that particular person? Come on, I mean Twitter is a big deal today. People might want to know if an actor/celebrity is on twitter or not. There are lots of people who look up to Wikipedia for every piece of information they want. Isn't that what Wikipedia's all about? Sharing information about a particular topic. And, adding a twitter link of that particular person does not affect the neutrality of the article.

Besides, twitter links are put up in many articles. For example: Leonardo DiCaprio, Danny DeVito, Shahrukh Khan. There are more but these are all the articles I can find now.

If at all you find anything wrong in what I said, you are welcome to correct me. I am open to having a healthy argument if it makes Wikipedia a better place to obtain information! Halemane (talk) 16:51, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Ah, thanks for letting me know. People regularly put up blogs as sources, and I am used to reverting such edits, and so I assumed that Twitter too would come under that category. Thank you. Nice to have another bangalorean over here (assuming you are bangalorean!). MakingTheMarkWassup doc? 17:23, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome. We wikipedians have one goal, don't we? Well, about being a Bangalorean, I reside in Bangalore, so, I guess it makes me Bangalorean! And, I am proud to be one! Halemane (talk) 17:49, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Oh dearie me, I do most terribly apologise to you Mr MikeLynch. My thoughts are American and British magazine opinions should count for nothing to powerful Indian politician. The British government no longer rule India, and the Americans never have ruled India, and it is an insult to great nation of India and to Sonia Gandhi that her status be judged according to subjective opinion of overseas magazine editors. Mr MikeLynch, are you not proud of India? Or do you think Britain and America are greater my friend? B. Fairbairn (talk) 03:38, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

On Wikipedia, I am a wikipedia editor, and nothing more. Forbes is a reliable source as far as Wikipedia is concerned. Let's not have a debate regarding national politics shall we? Let us stick to Wikipedia and its policies. MakingTheMarkWassup doc? 03:53, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Well put MikeLynch. It is a pleasure to deal with a gentleman, and a nice break from dealing with immature imbeciles. Keep up the good work, and one day you may be the first Professor of Wiki. B. Fairbairn (talk) 13:20, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey there

Hi MikeLynch,

I am deeply sorry if I upset you by redirecting a page to my user page. As you can tell, I am not a very experienced Wikipedia editor, and I wasn't aware of this rule. Please forgive me at my talk page. Thank you so much for making me aware of this rule, and I hope I don't displease you again in the future.

RE: Semi Protection of Bangalore

Actually, I completely agree with you. That is I protected the article for ten days [1] rather than the indefinite protection requested at WP:RFPP. Regards, — Kralizec! (talk) 15:00, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Adding nonsense at BMTC article

Hello MikeLynch, This user has added the sentence: There are also some unrecommended practices by the conductors such as not providing tickets and allowing passengers to travel at a lower rate. This practice has become quite rampant. (see here) and claims it not to be vandalism but a fact that he has added. Could you tell him that it accounts to vandalism. I have only given him a general warning about vandalism. Thanks, Abhishek191288 (talk) 04:30, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Done. TheMikeWassup doc? 05:54, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Stevie Wonder

What are your reasons for not approving the edits? Based on? I moved the Jon Gibson mention to the section discussing samples and covers which was what that song was. I also linked all the artists, songs, movies, etc. to supporting articles. I also added a cite. All of this is appropriate within Wiki. How can this be a revert? I improved the article, so it was helpful. Undoing it was counterproductive/unproductive. If something specific is not correct, I can change that. But to revert the entire edit I spent time on in good faith makes no sense. I think we should discuss before just undoing. Your thoughts? Thanks! 63.131.4.149 (talk) 12:51, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey man, I reverted the edit because there was a link to Amazon.com in your edit. Now, there may have been other good edits, but I was trying stuff out using a tool, and it reverted all of the edits. Sorry about that. If you can, please undo my edit, and insert the relevant material there(but not the amazon link). If you can't, then give me some time, and I will do it. Sorry for the inconvenience. Have a good day. TheMikeWassup doc? 13:11, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

It looks like you already did it. I'm adding a "better" cite. If you want the other one removed, you can do that. 63.131.4.149 (talk) 13:41, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Better if we discuss here. Talking here, and on your talk page is getting confusing. Okay, so add another source, and I will look into it and accept it. BTW, i'm sure other editors would have suggested this to you, but I recommend creating an account, because an edit made by a registered user is generally (not as a rule) considered in better terms than by just the IP address. Its just my opinion. Good day.

PS: I figured you were a man, used the expression, and turns out I was right! TheMikeWassup doc? 13:47, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Charles Gray (English judge)

Hello MikeLynch. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Charles Gray (English judge), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Per WP:POLITICIAN an English judge is notable. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:45, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey Mr Lynch, Can you please explain to me why you have (a) Removed my addition of departments to BMS page (b) Made it protected? Those departments exist and I was planning to update the complete department, but for your protection! Waiting for your response Regards (talk) Ashok Bhat 13:21, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey Lynch, In my defence, I did mention that my list is partial list of departments and was planning to update it. When I visited today to update it, I found my changes gone! I will try to fix it, if not I will contact you. (talk) Ashok Bhat 14:30, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

PR of RVCE

The article still has plenty of problems such as extremely short sections and subsections, images that overlap sections and displace edit buttons, and inconsistent date formatting in many of the citations. Information about campus buildings, environmental initiatives, or anything else must come from somewhere; just cite the source(s). If there is no reliable source, delete the information. It can't be sourced to personal research; what I mean by this is that it's not enough to have seen something with your own eyes because the fact that you've seen it is not verifiable. (I hope that answers the sourcing question.) The article is in too early a stage for a complete review at PR. The article's talk page is a good place to work out some of these things, and guidelines like WP:RS can help with others. Finetooth (talk) 20:59, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Jörn Donner didn't never married with Harriet Andersson. Donner's ex-spouses are Inga-Britt Wik (married 1954–1962), Jeannette Bonnier (married 1974–1988). His current wife is Bitte Westerlund .--Mannerheim (talk) 15:28, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Well, please give reliable sources to support the article, and your claims. See the policies WP:RS and WP:BLP. Have a good day. TheMikeWassup doc? 15:30, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Source will be in Finnish. Do you speak Finnish?--Mannerheim (talk) 15:35, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Try to find English sources for your articles. Foreign language sources are generally frowned upon. TheMikeWassup doc? 16:10, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

No it does not "constitute vandalism"

Amakusa is not from Sengoku period and I'm rewriting his article right now. The other got the stuff moved to their articles too. Now look at the history, I'm "vandalising" it since yesterday (many hours, dozens of edits) and you just revert to my recent "vandalism" (to the bots giving dates to the tags I posted). --94.246.150.68 (talk) 15:29, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Oh and now remove your notices on my talk page. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 15:30, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Well then, please give more informative edit summaries. Sorry for any inconvenience caused, but I strongly advise you to be more informative in your edit summaries. And no, I cannot remove the notices just like that. It is good that you clarified your point with me. Have a good day. TheMikeWassup doc? 15:33, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

I GAVE edit summaries. Including before you reverted again and told me it's "vandalism". --94.246.150.68 (talk) 15:40, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Removed your warning

Hello. Wanted to let you know that I removed [2] the warning you left for 208.101.117.185 (talk · contribs) since I was the one who revert the article [3]. Regards, — Kralizec! (talk) 15:55, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Additionally you might want to be more careful with your reverts, as you actually re-added the vandalism back into the article [4]. — Kralizec! (talk) 16:01, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Oh well, thanks for letting me know. I guess I pressed the 'revert' button just as you reverted it yourself. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. TheMikeWassup doc? 16:08, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello There,

Please have delete the subject file. I had contributed for the same but would not be needing that file any longer.

Tinasinster (talk) 17:19, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Did we have a database collision? Looks like you reverted my reversion of vandalism? DMacks (talk) 16:03, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Sigh, another Huggle mistake I think. This isn't the first time this has occurred! Sorry for the inconvenience. Have a good day. TheMikeWassup doc? 16:23, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
No worries. Happy editing! DMacks (talk) 16:28, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks

Many thanks for deleting the vandalism to my talk page. Pinethicket (talk) 17:24, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Anytime! TheMikeWassup doc? 17:31, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi Mike, I invite you to join this discussion. Abhishek191288 (talk) 17:31, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. But don't you think that financial status is irrelevant to an airport article since we are talking about an airport and not the company that operates the same. Abhishek191288 (talk) 18:09, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Well, I think it is quite unnecessary for the most part, but I guess one small line wouldn't hurt. Maybe it can be included under a section for "Administration" or something. Though I don't know what the general guideline says. TheMikeWassup doc? 18:15, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Well, this is how it looked like before I removed the entire para on financial stats. Do have a look the safety and security section here. Such detailed description of safety and security is unnecessary. Abhishek191288 (talk) 18:22, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello Mike,

Can u tell me if I can upload the subject image as I do not have any personal image of the person in that picture who happens to be a noted television personality (Sharad Kelkar)in India.

Regards,

Tinasinster (talk) 17:48, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Dear Tina, as Hammersoft mentioned, you cannot upload copyrighted images to Wikipedia. See WP:C. I appreciate you looking for images of Sharad Kelkar to upload, but please note that we cannot upload copyrighted images. Please contact me or any other established editor if you have further queries. Welcome to Wikipedia! TheMikeWassup doc? 18:07, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello Mike,

I understand that copyrighted images cannot be uploaded on this forum. But I was told personal images can be uploaded. I would like to know if the subject image which is from the personal profile of Sharad Kelkar from Facebook can that be added onto his article here on wiki? I have permission from him to do so. If yes please help me to upload the same as I would like to complete his article here on wiki.

Kind Regards,

Tinasinster (talk) 07:49, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello Mike,

I have just uploaded the subject pic of Sharad Kelkar with due permission from him which is from his personal album. Please take a look and confirm if there could be any problem and kindly do the needful.

Regards,

Tinasinster (talk) 11:45, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

One Question

Hello Mike,

Thanks a lot for ur assistance for helping me upload my previous image. I have one question I have 3 more images that I need to upload for 3 different articles. Can I use the same license that has been mentioned by u in my previous upload? Also let me assure u that my previous image is not copyrighted.

PS: Mike I also just now got this message "The image was copied from Facebook, are you the photographer, if not where is your permission? Teapotgeorge."

Regards,

Tinasinster (talk) 12:37, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

About 41.234.185.22

That was me, editing un-logged in. I do that occasionally. Lockesdonkey (talk) 16:28, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Okay. I feel that you shouldn't have deleted that material altogether. It would be great if you could replace it or reword it. TheMikeWassup doc? 16:33, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
The point being that Islam is already covered in a better fashion earlier in the page. Lockesdonkey (talk) 17:03, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Very well. TheMikeWassup doc? 17:05, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Well can you explain to me why the Ireland section was removed from the International Availability of Fanta page? I believe it was removed after a section of the UK topic was deleted. Can you restore it (the Ireland section)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.77.95.228 (talk) 16:54, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Well, I just reverted some vandalism. Will see into this Ireland stuff. TheMikeWassup doc? 16:56, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Fanta

Well can you explain to me why the Ireland section was removed from the International Availability of Fanta page? I believe it was removed after a section of the UK topic was deleted. Can you restore it (the Ireland section)?

Well, I just reverted some vandalism. Will see into this Ireland stuff. TheMikeWassup doc? 16:56, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Done. There has been a lot of IP edits on that page. I wonder why the Ireland section was deleted. Anyway, I put it back. TheMikeWassup doc? 16:58, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

One more thing

If you could fix the flag back on the Ireland section too it would be great. Sorry for any harm caused! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.77.103.146 (talk) 17:07, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
