Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Hello, Miguel.Vences. Dear Jake Brockman, thank you for your comments. There are a few points however that I would like to clarify. First of all, note that it was not my intention to create or edit any articles where I hold true conflicts of interest. In fact, all I tried to do was to translate an article on a renowned colleague (who happens to work at the same university as I do) from the German version of Wikipedia to the English version, given that he had no English account yet. I have not been paid or asked by anyone to do this. Secondly, I don't think this super strict application of Wikipedia's policy makes sense here: In fact, I have made every effort to avoid hiding my identity, and my Wikipedia username is therefore my own name. Should I choose a pseudonym, so no one can notice if indeed I have a conflict of interest? Thirdly, I think that it is obvious that as a Wikipedia "rookie" I will start editing accounts of subjects and people I am familiar with, to avoid making unnecessary mistakes. So, in the case of this article, I will disclose a "possible conflict of interest" and will try to add as many additional references as possible, and I hope that the respective edits will then be accepted.Miguel.Vences (talk) 16:53, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
