Thank you @Adolphus79! I edited an article about a year ago but only this week have I come back to editing! I am very excited and love contributing to the wealth of information found on Wikipedia! Middle Mac CJM (talk) 22:07, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some advice

[edit]

I appreciate your work on Thomasville City Schools (Alabama), however you messed up the formatting a bit when attempting to change the tag. (No hard feelings- this stuff isn't easy) I highly suggest adding the Twinkle tool to your account to make adding tags (and other things) much easier. Sandcat555 (talk) 04:12, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @Sandcat555!!! It was the first time I tried one of the "hard" edits to update a stub article. I do apologize for the formatting mistake but I am very grateful for your help. I will check out and add the twinkle tool! Thank you again for the help and the suggestion! Middle Mac CJM (talk) 04:16, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Middle Mac CJM All good. Wikitext can be difficult to work with. Tools like Twinkle and HotCat exist to do some of the work for you, so you don't miss a bracket somewhere or something. Sandcat555 (talk) 08:14, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Signatures

[edit]

In case you were not aware, you can sign your name easily on a post using four tildes like this: ~~~~ this will automatically add your full signature. Sandcat555 (talk) 08:17, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I've gone over your work on that article. Wikipedia should always be written in your own words,- it can be easy to simply take sentences from a source and add them to an article, but really that should only be done for direct quotes. Unfortunately your edit(s) read very similar to the source material you got them from. Sandcat555 (talk) 08:22, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Nothing against you at all, but I highly suggest that next time you want to make an edit that big, you create it in your sandbox page so that others can go through it with you first and give advice before it is published. Remember it's always okay to ask for help and most people here will help you if they have the time. Sandcat555 (talk) 08:28, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @Sandcat555! I did write the article in my own words but I do come from a journalistic background so I'm not super used to fluffying things up too much but I will try and write more different than source material in the future! What is the sandbox page and how does it work? Like for example, I was thinking about writing an article about the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education which is an organization created by the state legislature but I want to work on that over a long period of time. Can I make it in my sandbox without it being declared a stub immediately and deleted? Middle Mac CJM (talk) 06:33, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was automatically notified about your reversion of my edit to this article. Your edit summary did not give a reason for the reversion, so I'm asking for the reason here. There is a date format and ALLCAPS that are contrary to Wikipedia standards (see my edit summary for the Wikipedia pages with detailed explanations). Ira Leviton (talk) 14:24, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Ira Leviton! I apologize for the reversion of your edit, that was an accident and completely unintentional. I am new to wikipedia and subsequently it's user interface for editing and edit history. I was trying to originally thank you and didn't realize I hit undo instead next to it. I appreciate your edit to that page and for linking the rules. It's my first week here and I have never done anything like this so I am learning a LOT very fast. But once again, I am sorry for the reversion.
With Peace,

No problem at all - just be careful and use the "show preview" button before using the "publish changes" button, and welcome to Wikipedia. Ira Leviton (talk) 14:57, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Will do in the future :) and Thank you! Middle Mac CJM (talk) 15:09, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
