Style remarks

[edit]

Thank you for your edits to mathematics articles. I have just a couple of remarks. One is that one should use an edit summary when contributing (it is helpful :) and the other is that one should make variables italic, so N instead of N. These are both minor things, but I thought I would let you know. Thanks. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 20:34, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ajchat has been proposed for deletion. Please review WP:NOT and WP:WEB for relevant guidelines. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so and remove the prod notice. If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the prod notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. Removing the prod notice stops the deletion process, but if a user is still unsatisfied, they may send the article to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for discussion. NickelShoe (Talk) 15:10, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks. The only date I could see in the article was for the August release date, which is why I changed it. But you're right. Thanks for catching my mistake. Hank el-Bashir 12:56, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wushu photos

[edit]

Hi, the images on Wushu (sport) were licensed under CC "Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0", which are forbidden by Wikipedia. So unfortunately these can not be used, though if you can find some free images that'd be great. Shawnc 23:21, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for fixing it up for me! :) How did you do that? All the best! Judgesurreal777 22:45, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, it seems you didn't follow the steps on Wikipedia:Requested_moves#Steps_for_requesting_a_page_move when reqesting move for Nan Quan since the survey area is missing, so I just delisted the request from Wikipedia:Requested_moves. Please list it again after you have executed step 3 of "Steps for requesting a page move" if you still wish to execute the move. Regards, Dijxtra 09:12, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Oraclethinkquest.gif

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Oraclethinkquest.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:57, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deathly Hallows

[edit]

I decline to delete the DH plot summary article under speedy--it does partially duplicate the main article, and might not stand up as a separate article, but you can't exactly call it no-content. I suggest you discuss this on the talk pages & one way to do it might be to propose a WP:MERGE. DGG (talk) 18:10, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Meihuaquan

[edit]

I have nominated Meihuaquan, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Meihuaquan. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Thanks for uploading Image:Tharman shanmugaratnam.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 09:17, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Mh! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 6 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Warren Fernandez - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Sharon Au - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:CHS old.JPG, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). As a copyright violation, File:CHS old.JPG appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:CHS old.JPG has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at File talk:CHS old.JPG and send an email with the message to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at File talk:CHS old.JPG with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on File talk:CHS old.JPG.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. — Cheers, JackLee talk 13:30, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:CHS old.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:CHS old.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — ξxplicit 18:48, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Oracle OpenWorld has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Oracle is notable, but I find no independent evidence that the conference is. It is not mentioned at the parent article, so a redirect isn't a viable ATD.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
