Comments on Truman's beer

[edit]

Re: 1381 Good point that it isn't certain whether it is the same family. One possibility is to add the quote with the caveat. e.g according to ref, there was a Truman family brewing in 1381, although it isn't clear that it is the same family. But is someone decided to remove that, I probably wouldn't fight them.

I found one of the books in a German library, but I trust that's a little out of the way.

I think the photos would be great. You need to be aware that WP is fairly strict about copyright issues - and copyright is a tricky area. I know a little, but enough to know that there is much I don't know. I don't want you to do a lot, and get it all thrown out, maybe add one, and see what happens.

There is a well-established procedure for passing permission on to WP. See WP:PERMISSION for details. In short, you email permission to OTRS, but the details are at the link. BTW, something even some regulars do not know, there is a specific forum for questions about copyright - WP:IMAGEHELP.

I'm going to try to see if I can improve your references - if I can find the right info. I'll post after I do it, so you can see if it is an improvement.

Your article is what I consider one of the best features of WP—while it is certain that only a tiny proportion of visitors will be interested in your article, if they are interested in it, this will be one of the best online sources. Unlike many other subjects where you can find all kinds of info, this will be the place to go for info on this subject.--SPhilbrickT 19:56, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Glad that you think it will be useful and serve the intended purpose. As for Germany, it is indeed a little far away.....

Have you checked out

[edit]

Have you checked out Old Truman Brewery?

Hello,

Yes, I have checked out the Old Truman Brewery, it is in fact where my interest in Truman's started - I used to have an office in the old brewery. I have met the people there and they have shown me around, but they know very little of the history of Truman's, which is mainly due to the fact that Grand Metropolitan burnt all the paperwork when they sold the building in 1989.

Thank you for your changes and additions, much appreciated.

I finally managed to get the Ian Hornsey book and have now added to the 20th Century section.

I have been looking into how to now publish the contribution on the main site but I've not quite worked out what needs doing. Could you tell me what I need to do? I may have worked it out by the time you read this, but if not your help would be very useful.

With regards to the photos, I have selected three and written to the copyright holder to confirm permission in the form that Wikipedia requires it. Hopefully I'll be able to add the images next week.

Thanks

References

[edit]

I made my planned changes to the refs - it wasn't as dramatic an improvement as I hoped, if you don't like it just revert - I thought I might find an ISBN and make a proper citation, but the book doesn't appear to have an ISBN--SPhilbrickT 20:28, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move request

[edit]

I saw a move request, so I moved it.

If anyone proposes it for deletion, please let me know - I carry no more weight than any other editor, but I like this article, so I'd like to know so I can weigh in.--SPhilbrickT 19:56, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The naming convention for breweries indicates that we give articles on brewing companies the title of the name of the company, along with the words "Brewing" or "Brewing Company" - this is to differentiate the company from the brands or beer. See WP:Brewery name. Sometimes when the brewing building is notable, we may have an article on the building as well - as in Black Eagle Brewery. The Black Eagle site is currently used as an arts and events centre under the name Old Truman Brewery. I had to make a couple of minor changes to the article to make that distinction. I renamed the article to Black Eagle Brewery, and redirected Old Truman Brewery to the section in the article which details the current use. I hope that helps. If you are still unsure, please get in touch with me. Or raise a question at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Beer. Regards. SilkTork ✔Tea time 15:27, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
